Bill, please keep me in mind. I'll be looking to get another cue after I recover from
my surgery.....probably by Halloween.....same as before....mid 18 ozs, flat ivory joint.

Spotted some great cues on your site...... there's a great Tonkin and a Nitti cue....and
of course, the MOP cue. Thanks for my Prewitt. You were absolutely right about this cue.

Bill, you're really unlucky.

Unlucky because the parcel was inspected, and unlucky because the buyer don't assume the risk/the loss. In your case, the buyer don't act seriously. (and don't speak about the thread he posted... shame on him)

I fully understand why you agreed, and you shouldn't be blamed to have tried to be "customer-friendly". That's how good business are managed -usually-.

There is something i don't understand, on the buyer side : I dunno about Taiwan, but in my country , in Europe , import taxes are almost 25%.
So, to try to save 100's bucks of import duties , that's human.
I've done that a few times, for cues <2000$ , to save 300,400,500 bucks, until i had to deal with the customs because of a low ball declaration. My fault, my mistake.
I could finally unblock the cue/parcel, but after lot of emails, papers, and the payment of the right import duties + a damn penalty ROFL. Now, lesson learned : big cue = travel to the seller's location when outside europe.

if I buy a gina, or a big Tad in the USA , i would never take the risk to see the parcel been blocked by our customs because of the low amount declared or whatever the reason is : I want to receive it ! I would or to insure the cue for the full amount and then to be ready to pay the 25% duties, or i'm gonna travel with a cue case to the USA to pick up the cue by myself. the safest, the better.

over a certain price, the cost of a short trip to the usa to pick up the cue by myself -back home travelling with my cue case, like many billard/pool players - is way inferior to the cost of the import duties , so , i really don't understand why he asked you to declare 280$ !!!

the buyer played , has lost the bet -> his loss. That's a lot of money ? he had to think to the risk before .

Let's be serious : asking to declare 280$ when a gina is in the parcel, that's taking a huge risk : who can seriously believe than customs workers won't see immediatly that there is a value problem when they open the parcel ? they aren't stupid, that's an universal rule : the customs services do know the value of items very well. That's their primary job.

You're unlucky . About the loss, it's his fault, not yours. you were simply customer-friendly , and as replay, he must act professionally and now he has to assume.
