Does anybody out ther have any special advise on shipping to Taiwan.
Best method, USPS or Fedex or something else. I have an offer pending on a couple of cues, but have never shipped to Taiwan.
Thanks.

I sent a cue to Kylin here on AZ.

Takes a long time, (10) days, held up in customs and both he and I were nervous but it finally reached him.

I dont know if I would do again. I mean I got paid, and he got the cue, but the hassle and the worry wasnt worth it.

Price the cues right and I predict a sell right here in the old USA.

Good luck my friend,

Ken

Yeah, Make sure you get paid first and it clears to your bank..

I've shipped to Singapore a few times using Global Priority mail and that takes 5 to 10 days...

It is a worry as Ken said when it's in the mail for up to 10 days.. I always worry about the cue developing a warp.. So what I do is describe the cue as it is and tell them if they want it I will not be responsible for the cue once it ships..

They can either choose to trust I have described the cue correctly and accept the fact that whatever happens to the cue, If anything during the long shipping, I'm not held for that and it's on them.. or they can choose to not take the cue..

I do not like shipping out of the US so that's my terms..

Needless to say everyone has accepted that offer and everything has turned out fine..

Good luck..

I have to say that I agree completely. I, too, have shipped to a buyer in Taiwan...before the big ivory crackdown...and all worked out just great...however, I doubt that I would do it again, either...far too stressful!!

If you must...go with USPS Global Express. DO NOT SHIP FEDEX!!!!! I can almost guarantee the pkg will be searched at the Customs location for FedEx in Anchorage, and if they even suspect anything white in the cue is ivory...it will be seized!! And there will be no getting it back, either. Not to mention, you could be liable for criminal prosecution for attempting to export ivory out of the U.S., a violation of CITES Treaty, without the proper paperwork proving the ivory is pre-ban.

Like I said....way too stressful!

Here's a link that will provide some useful info:

I've had many cues shipped to Thailand (should be the same deal to Taiwan) from the States in the past six months, and have yet to experience a problem- using Priority Air through the post office is your best bet. Make sure the buyer knows that they will probably get nailed for customs charges on their end (this is based on the declared value of the cue- this can be lowered to avoid the charges- I usually do this- this also limits insurance coverage if it's lost, so it's a gamble).

If you can, ship in a sturdy tube rather than a triangular box.

I received most of my cues from the States by USPS. All delivered safely.

I usually try Global when I'm shipping overseas, and have only had two hiccups in the process. Both involving Ivory, but there weren't any complaints at the other end when the cues did arrive.
I'm not real fond of doing it, since we have enough problems within the states on shipping things, but not all buyers/sellers are in the US.
shrug..
I found that by wrapping the hell out of the cues and putting them into tubes, bubble wrapping that and putting it into a triangle shipping tube, the cues don't seem to be affected by the trip.....
Probably overkill, but better than the alternative.
I know I hate getting things that looked like a four year old packed it...lol

sometimes when i ship expensive cues out of the country i put it in a cheap 1x2 case that can be bought for 10 bucks. i bubbled wrap the case then put it in the shipping container. everything remains absolutely perfect and it is less affected by the temperature.

I use those shrinkable wrap you use to wrap up your excess food. You can buy those from supermarkets. I will wrap a layer of bubble wrap first then use the shrinkable wrap to wrap around. this way it will be tight compact and air tight! so less worry about weather and humidity and stuff.

Thailand, Singapore? What it got to do with shipping to Taiwan? Its a whole different country and geographical location. Different rules too i think. There are buyers and sellers here from Taiwan, probably their comment would be more insightful then mine.

Good luck. Money in the bank first is always good advice.

I live on a tiny island off the southeastern coast of Thailand, with a local postal system that is less than stellar- if something sent via USPS can arrive here in excellent condition in a reasonable period of time, I think recommending that method is more than justified to anywhere in Asia, even Taiwan.;)

The thing is Kylin is from Singapore. That's totally different country. Shipping to Taiwan usually takes 2~4 days, unless you send by ship.

Singapore isn't too far from Taiwan. How fast depends on what service you use. I received my case from Joe Whitten within 4 days, from the US to Singapore.
