Just in case you have not heard of the Shooters tournaments in Olathe, KS - this is the place that has the action/players/history in the Midwest you have read about. Not to overstate the obvious, but if you can play, bring your game to Olathe.

Tournament play is optional; you definitely get matched up if that is your preference.

Location is Olathe, Kansas, a western suburb of Kansas City, about 25 minutes from from downtown. FYI, the talent pool is rather deep with Matlock and Harriman as local residents.

Everybody knows you can get a game in KC, and one pocket players are almost guaranteed to get played at Shooters.

Have fun,

Resident of Denver that would love to be closer to the action.

From what I hear this is a top notch tournament. Buddy Hall plays out of my home room and he speaks highly of this tournament. Of course, he doesnt speak very highly of my game...LOL. Every time we play I feel like his personal rack *****...but its pretty neat playing with a hall of famer on a consistent basis.

When I think of the Olathe tournaments, I actually think of Buddy Hall. I remember seeing some coverage of this tournament in one of the pool magazines and seeing his picture on the cover (he had taken 1st place). It would be great to play against any top professional....lose or win. What I was asking was, where can I find information on the tournament? I live in Wichita, KS and might be interested going to the tournament.

Thanks

Matt ... Tournament section here. Shooters might have a flyer on the big south side bulletin board there. Steve Rector and Jeremy Vulgamore usually play in Olathe tournaments.

Hey Bomber,
Wasn't there a professional baseball player from Paducah, played in the 60's/70's for Oakland, played catcher. Was that you???? I'm blanking on his name, but I'm sure I have his baseball card somewhere.

"Lovethegame" - Thank you for the kind (and true) words about Dan & Shooters. I take it you have played there before? You must PM me what year(s) & maybe your name? I might know you... I don't miss those tournaments (unless I have no choice). I used to plan my vacations around them and i live about 40 minutes from there!

Try this one too! http://www.9balltour.com/ Gabe used to come up for all of Shooters' tournaments too, along with James Walden, Dave Matlock, Jesse Bowman, Whitey Walker (too many to list) usually make it too! Here is a scanned copy of the actual flyer:

Thank you for the kind words - it means a lot!

I can't believe noone mentioned

that Jose Parica is known to frequent tournaments in Olathe. I am so glad that Shooters is hosting the tournaments again. They were sorely missed by many when they had to discontinue for awhile.

No...that wasnt me...i played some college ball but never broke through anywhere else...the last great pro player from paducah was Steve Finley...along with some lower named guys like Terry Shumpert (Colorado Rockies) and Rick White (relief pitcher that pitched for everyone)

mattman... I spoke with Dan Tull and he informed me that Buddy Hall will indeed be at this one too! I have a sneakin feeling this one's going to have a great turnout!

Ok, everybody - check out an earlier post of mine on this thread as i have attached a scanned copy of the acutal flyer!

One-Pocket results

Here are the One-Pocket results:

#1 Larry Neville
#2 James Walden
#3 Danny Harriman

Jesse Bowman didn't make it to this one due to previous engagements (according to a rumor). BTW, Roger Griffis, & David Matlock are here. Buddy Hall didn't make it afterall, he was half way here and had to turn around and go back home. The caliber of players is pretty high in this one! :)

I am going to have to rely on someone else to post results for the 9-ball, as i won't be able to make it.
