Shooting .900+

Loving the home table and feel everything improving... I started tracking my shooting % when I have people over. Playing good I'm hitting 950+ in a 10 a head vs my opponent's 880 when he is hitting the good. I am mostly in the 900's and will dip into the 800's and low 800 when off. I was wondering how accu-stats calculate their stats.... What do they do with safeties? This may change my %...Thanks.

Go to Accu-Stats. They have it there. It's a good formula, and if you are hitting 900s you and your friends are probably some of your states best players (900, is almost perfect, and anything over 850 is wolrd class play, so you and your friends are really high end), what state do you live in?

Keep track of all your errors. Missed balls easier than a spot shot count as two errors. Tougher missed balls, kicking errors, scratches on the break, and safety errors (if you play a good safe, and your opponent kicks the ball in, that counts as an error as well) each count as one error. Take your # of balls pocketed, and divide that by (# of balls pocketed + total errors), and that gives your TPA.

Short racks hurt your TPA a little bit. Shooting a .950 in a race to 11 is about a 2 error match.

If your really shooting 900+ and using Accu-Stat's system...don't say another word on here. Go on the road...pack now. Johnnyt

disregaurd the above advice. it is a little off. i have had a friend do the same thing. don't go on the road, invite everyone to play at your house. unless you and your frien can carry your table around then of course hit the road.:)

I've had a total of two (2) matches where I'm sure I played over .900 against much stronger opponents, making only a couple errors in each set. I was definitely in the zone, beating Brandon Shuff and Danny Green, two VERY strong east coast players.

But these were short races (7 or 5) and I'm not trying to say that it would be repeated very often. Nevertheless, I'm very proud of the way I played on those two occasions.

I sure wish I could bottle-up whatever I had on those two evenings, because I was so relaxed and just knew whatever I lined up was going in. Now I can't run 7 balls regularly...

Is this in the description of the Accu-Stats scoring system?

I found this description of a safety error:

"SAFETY ERROR: A player plays a safety and his opponent pockets a ball during his next turn at the table OR misses a shot that is easier than a spot shot. If, immediately after a safety, the opponent kicks the first ball in, no safety error will be charged."

I have been counting a safety as a pocketed ball if I hooked him. If I hit his hook I counted it as a good hit and not a miss. His high is an 880. His normal shooting is 300 to low 700 with in the 600's being average. playing 10 a head I have a 975, 955, 950, 930, 915, 890 and 880. My game has really jumped in the last month after getting my table. I have been playing this level for about 2 1/2 weeks and feel it is getting better (less problem areas).

I could be wrong, but I don't think this counts as a pocketed ball.

I went over the TPA... couldn't find it there before... lots of info to keep. You don't count good safety as a hit or miss so the stats changed a little. I also counted the balls on the break which they don't. I will do a new one tonight with the proper method and post results... I thought a 950 was high thats why I asked. on TV they mention the pros are playing really strong at a 920 or so. See if I can break a 900.

I never looked at the page before...I think I heard it in the commentary of a match I watched a few years back. Looks like either the commentator or myself misunderstood something.
