Do you know of any pool halls that have opened in shopping malls? How is the business in these places?

my guess is they can not afford the high rent...pool tables take up a lot of space and mall leases are not cheap.

We operate one. The limitation is the time because the mall only runs for certain hours... and they close at about 9pm. So you gotta maximize really...

In my area of s.e. Penna, They wont allow pool rooms in the big malls.
But I am in a small strip mall and do ok, i`ll never get rich, but make a living, only because I do it all by myself, and Im single for 20 years.

Shopping malls are dangerous for doing business as a pool room or a Bar/Tavern for the simple fact that you miss the point as to why people are going to the malls in the first place...they have an agenda...shopping! In most cases, just look at the video arcades in the malls...if it's inside the mall...it stays busy for the most part...and pay a high rent for the privilege to do so, the same arcade outside of the mall...won't stay in business very long...because it's not in the main stream of foot traffic. And, during the holidays, traffic is a nightmare, which will keep a lot of people away from the mall just for that reason...after they've done their own shopping of course. Then, on the weekends, if they don't have plans to do some shopping at the mall...they don't make the trip, because of the traffic. Then, most malls have restrictions against that kind of businesses anyway, because they don't want you to have customers parking their cars in parking spaces for extended periods of time, because the faster parking spots turn over, the more available they are to more shoppers. The Parlor Pool Room in Bellevue, WA. is kind of an exception to the rule, but he sells it as a restaurant, first...and does well at it, but the price of that room was over $5,000,000.00...great to own, but try and sell it!

The best way to open a room in this type of location is to buy a small Mall and open your room. This way you can use the space at the expense of your tenants, and use the room as a right off on your tax's.

Oh and by the way, you will also need a a creative Accountant!!!!!;)
