Shortening a Shaft

I have a 30 inch shaft I hardly use since it throws my stroke off. It's straight and in very good shape. Is it possible to have it shortened to 29 inches? It has a plain black collar and brass insert. If possible, what are some prices to have this done, or am I better off scrapping it and buying another?
 
You can just have the inch taken off the ferrule end very easily. Cut off one inch, turn a new tenon and install new ferrule and tip as normal. Cost will vary depending on tip and ferrule selection. You should even be able to use the existing ferrule if you wanted to. I would do something like that for around $30-40
 
I'd do it for the price of the new ferrule and tip. No extra to cut it off.

I would also add that you may want to have the shaft re-tapered during thid process. Because even only one inch being removed from the end of shaft will have a noticable effect on the diameter of the shaft.
