Shot clock in pool

The simple answer to this is that the technology and personnel required cost money that most event producers would rather not spend. Even Matchroom does not use a shot clock until the late stages of their events, and while I wish it were not the case, I respect their decision to allocate their production budget elsewhere.
Unless you're in China.... Yuan8 Open had a referee for every single table in the event. Every single game was subject to shot clock. Was bloody impressive and made the tournament well organized, fun to participate in and interesting to watch.

Poker has a similar problem, as some players ponder for a long time over very expensive decisions. Here is what a pretty good poker player has to say about this. It appears that poker also has players who use every second of a fixed shot clock.

I often disagree with Daniel but he is spot on here based on my personal experiences and what actually happens(not just theoretical).

The slow play in poker is brutal.

Guys will take the full time with 7 - 2 offsuit with a raise and reraise in front of them. Brutal

weak t.d's are the cause of that. get balls and tell the slow players they are no longer welcome. it really is simple as that.

any other way punishes the good people. but that seems the way of the world nowadays.

Not really possible in a lot of situations, such as Derby City.
