Shot on my first Diamond 9' today

One of my local rooms has 10 or so 7' Diamond Pro Am tables. I shoot on those or a 9' GC most days. Today I decided to try a 9' Diamond P-A. I was honestly shocked at the difference. The bigger table played much slower than either the GC or 7 Diamnond. All above tables had 860S on them. I seem to remember the rails on the 9' are different in some way than the 7's. I am sure glad I played on it. I like the GC and 7' Diamond but I would not by a 9' Diamond unless I play on one I like better than today's 9' Diamond. I will find a different 9D to play on as I don't trust a sample size of one.

Sounds like the cloth wasn't tight. All the 9ft Diamonds i've played on were quite fast with 860, 860HR and ANDY988.

Compare the rail height. The noses on the 9 ftr might be a little high. And of course fresh cloth doesn't help ball rebound either.

Or possibly wet and/or dirty.

If you run your hand across the cloth, can you make wrinkles?

And is it the cushions that are slow or the cloth? There is nothing about a Diamond that's going to make the cloth slow. That's on the room and the installer.

The blue label Diamonds I’ve played on weren’t faster or slower than my GC4

first shot taken on a new table is up and down hard to see how fast the table is. and see how far past 4 rails you get.

These are all well worn pool hall tables. Like I said I will try a different table before I pass final judgment.
It's not really a judgement thing, the tables are only as fast as the setup on them, how new and clean the cloth is, how old the rails are, if the rails are bolted properly. The table itself does not matter, it's not like the 9 footers are made to be slower. It's just the table you played on compared to the other tables in the room. Snookers in RI has some GC 4s that are very fast, some so fast I hate playing on them but there are other tables in the same place that are a good deal slower. And I have played on a good number of 9 foot Diamonds that were slower than those GC tables, in fact most of them were slower.
