Should be interesting

Assuming that they both make it out of the first round, I will be interested
in how the match between Thorsten Hohmann and Jui Lung Chen goes.
The only advantage that I think Hohmann has is experience in big tourneys.
I would'nt overlook Chen though, He's capable of beating anyone in this tournament.
I would bet on Chen with 3 to 2 on the cash.

I was thinking the same thing when I saw the brackets. Should be a good match to watch.

Noticed that one too it should be a great matchup, whoever wins it will likely have to face Tyler Edey in the third round who plays just as good as they do, beat Earl at last years Open on his way to a solid finish, I can't wait!

Other interesting possibles

James Walden playing Buddy Hall 1st round will be good.

Possible Varner vs. Matlock in about 4th round would be interesting.

Gabe could end up playing Efren again in about 4th round.
(I believe he beat Efren last year in the Open).

Many in the field have experience in big tourneys. Hohmann's experience, however, includes:

2003 World Champion
2nd in 2004 US Open
2005 BCA Open champion

I think you are confusing experience with sustained excellence. Hohmann's edge is a history of sustained excellence on pool's biggest stages. That's a little more than an experience edge, isn't it?

Obviously, Hohmann's beatable, but it sure ain't easy to knock him off. Surely, JL Chen is at least a three to one shot.

What I am saying is that I don't think Hohmann's game is any better than
Chen's. I think the difference will be Chen's inexperience in this setting.
Why would I think his game was weaker after watching him consistantly
beat players such as Jeremy Jones, Gabe Owen, Charlie Bryant, David G., etc.
Have you even seen him play? Your going to feel silly if Chen beats him.

Tex, I'm a homer, too, and I would like to see JLC beat Hohman, but I may have to bet it all if JLC ever matched up with anyone you just mentioned.

I don't expect Chen to beat Hohmann, but I also would'nt be a bit surprised if he did.
I would'nt bet against Chen against some of the players mentioned
That would'nt be wise since he has a winning record against some of them.
But I would'nt bet on him either.
Gambling is much different than tournament play.

Hohmann vs. players from taiwan

2004 wpc: eliminated by Kang
2005 wpc: koncked out by Wu
2005 world game: beated by Chang in the final match

I agree it won't be surprising if Chen defeat Hohmann. :D

Those players are different then Chen, two of them are WPC finalists! I hope Mike does a v-bookie for the match!
