Should I get a Viking cue, or something else?

I think it has to be one that you like. Personally after my game starts I pay little attention to anything but the taper and the tip. Find a cue that feels good in your hands. Viking, McDerrmott, Bludworth, or Scruggs, or whatever. Asking that question here always opens up a can of worms, everyone has a favorite.

Cool. By the way, the cat in your profile pic looks like my cat XD...

I won't recommend a Viking to be a good playing cue if you want to win.

You can get a Erwin cue for less money and will hit better.

Or go with a good cue that has been tested and proven to be good------->

I have a Viking, and I love it. A year ago, I was about to sell it to "upgrade" to a new cue with a predator shaft, because everyone said it will improve my game and cure aids. Upon trying an LD shaft, I hung onto it just in case, and I am very glad I did. LD shafts are fantastic for some players, but for others (such as myself), the transition does not work out. I own an F50 which is identical to the special edition cue you were looking at, just in a red color scheme. It is 7 years old, and still looks and plays like the day I bought it. If you want pictures, shoot me message. I cannot speak highly enough about Viking, but I have not tried the new V shafts. I recommend finding a dealer in your area that can let you shoot with one. The design will be different, but the feel will show you what you are getting into.

get what you like, viking makes good cues but try all the cues you can then buy;;;;and poolguy if you ever get down to s.c. look me up i will take one of my vikings out an give you the 7 out!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am not sure if there is anyone here who has Vikings I can try, however, after hearing all these comments, I am pretty certain about getting a Viking.

By the way, I forgot to mention, but I've tried the Mika Immonen 1 Mezz cue, 2 Poison cues and 1 other really amazing cue(But I forgot its brand :(...). Mezz one was amazing, but the Poison ones were great too, they felt really good for me.

Whoops, didn't see that you were from a different country. I think you will be happy with a Viking, but it's always a gamble when you can't try a cue first.

By the way, that unknown cue I tried... It was white with black decorations and a black-with-white-dots wrap and a shaft with Knightshot written on it... In case anyone knows of this cue, please tell me...

I have to say that, as someone getting back in after more than a few years and moving up from an old 2 piece dufferin, I do get confused sometimes...

Everyone tends to say "custom, custom, custom.." but then you hear that predator shafts are great which is a production product and THEN you hear that it's all in the shaft.... so what I gather from that is that the but is more of a personal choice and yes! some of those custom cues are gorgeous but if it's all in the shaft and predator shaft are so recommended then.... does it really matter if you put it on a production but?

In the end, based on the recommendation of the local mom and pop pool shop, I bought a Lucasi and I'm very happy with it. Less than $300 and yes, I got a 314-2 for it and like it very much but the stock zero flex shaft played well enough as well. Maybe I'm just not good enough or experienced enough to feel the difference yet but the only point that really matters to me is that I like the way it looks, I like the way it plays and it didn't cost me as much as my first car did....

Yes, I understand... But I guess it's 100% sure that it must be better than my current cheap cue...

Would that be nine ball or ten ball on a 7 foot table or 9 foot table?

Do you have friends that play too? I really could use the extra money....

I play eight ball too but never those hard games where you have to think like one pocket or straight pool.

Hmm, a Predator for 350$..? Can you give me a link to some?

I found one like my Sneaky Pete for less than 350. If you want something with a wrap the last two links are 30 dollars more than you wanted to spend but I think it is worth saving that 30 bucks for them.

Good Luck with your search keep me posted on what you end up getting.

For $350 dollars your best bet is picking up a decent custom cue, like a used Jon Spitz, or a used Dale Perry. I would recommend staying away from production cues as they are inconsistent.

If you HAVE TO go with prodcution the only ones I would recommend are Pechauer or Joss. The viking cues are overly flashy and look tackey with all the fake shiny plastic they put in them...

Also a Predator sneaky pete wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Hmmm, be careful of that line of thinking. I've changed cues about 10 times during the last two years, and the one I always go back to cost me $15.

Some of those cheap Furys hit great. No cue is *guaranteed* to be better than what you have already. Some retailers offer to refund your money if you don't like the cue you choose, so that might be worth looking into.

Oh wow, looks even more beautiful than on the site! How is it for playing?

It's amazing. I had Pechauer with a Predator shaft that I did not like half as much as this cue. I am so happy I did not get rid of this Viking. This is my personal preference, but I think you would be happy with it too. If you like it, then pull the trigger!

At McDermott Cue we offer a great value, solid performance, and the best warranty in the business (lifetime warranty including warpage).

Our 3/8"-10 wood-to-wood joint provides a solid hit with great feedback.

We have cues in our G-Series that fit your budget and include our high-performance G-Core shaft ($149 value).

When you get ready to buy a Viking, I'll make it well worth the effort. Although McDermott makes nice cues, I can't sell them. So for the best price on an American made production cue, talk to me about a Viking Cue.
