Bruin dude you have 400. How much padding do you need? I'll never catch up.

I'd prefer to see a good kick than a jump shot. But at my level. down with the small fish and marks it doesn't matter because very rarely do you see anyone with a jump cue.

i agree.

You know what really cracks me up is when a guy comes into a pool hall with a beautiful cue case. He gets the balls, goes over to a table, pulls out a pool apron, glove, a beautiful cue, break cue, jump cue and can't make a ball! LOL!!!

Hey, watch it. lol
Apron? Ahahahaha!!!
Zim, that's SIR Joseph to you.:p
I know of a player who shoots with a $8000 Joss West.
He's been playing for 30 yrs or so now. He couldn't beat the 4-ball ghost if his life depended on it.

HAHA!! I like the apron also! I'll be honest here...I use a black cue glove, the black magnetic belt clip chalk holder, a Qbuddy (rubber holder that sets on the edge of the table to hold 2 cues), I have a playing cue, break cue, bunjee and my Giuseppe 3x6 case and yes, I can run a rack or two! haha!!!
But I do know what you're talking about!!

I borrowed my son in law's glove, took 1 shot;
the stick flew out of my hand & almost put
his eye out. Ban those damn things too.
Bah, humbug.

Comn Hondo, the first time you used your "johnson" and it shot out of your hands did you throw it out? No, you just had to practice, right?

I don't see what the big deal is. Basically, a jump cue is ANY cue that allows you to jump the ball higher over a shorter distance.

By that reasoning, there are many pool supplies that should be banned -- not just specifically marketed "jump cues". For example, a light cue with a hard tip is an advantage to jumping, isn't it? So let's ban all cues lighter than 19oz and any tips harder than "medium"!

Maybe the question should read, "Should jump SHOTS be banned", because that's what this conversation is really coming down to -- whether pool (which is really far too general a term anyway) should be a 2-D or 3-D game.

I vote for 3-D.

-CF <~~~ doesn't even own a jump cue, either.

What happens if a guy uses his jump cue to shoot the entire match with? He's still jumping with the same cue he's breaking and shooting with!! Just a thought, haha!!

You know what it takes to play with a thousand dollar cue?

A thousand dollars.

I say make everyone play with a Valley house cue, 19.5ozs with a compressed LePro tip. Every player MUST wear only the same clothing which consists of drawstring pants and a white Fruit of the Loom t-shirt. Tables should be made without sights to eliminate unfair use of the diamond system. Chalk cubes are only held by the referee and the cue should only be chalked by the referee the exact same amount of times between each shot. Any player caught using any system will be immediately barred from ever playing pool again. Any player caught reading books, watching tapes or getting instruction from other players will be barred as well. There will be no cross discipline play since it may be that one group might have some advantage over another in some aspect of the game. So choose your discipline wisely since that is all you will be allowed to play.

There will be no spots of any kind in any tournament or head-to-head matchups. A handicap supposes that one player is better than another and attempts to equalize the game. This is not allowed since nothing shall be instituted that gives a player an artificial chance to win. Victory shall come unblemished and fully earned.

Sound good? This would be the way to go?

Winston Smith is waiting for his cue.
