Should Ultraskins offer a pre padded Tip?

Hear a lot of talk on layered tips with pads pre installed on tips. Yes, I have experimented. You guys are the ones that talk to your customer, the Pool Player.

Is it anything I should look at for the present and future. You people are my ears so LMK.

Pads

Your tips don't seem to soak up the glue like some of the others. I am happy with them the way they are.
 
what the hell would you want a pad under the tip for?????? It would soften the hit....

What the **** is an UltraSkin?

The Kamui Clear hits the same as the Kamui black according to the review.
We don't install that many fiber pads, but it would be nice to have some.
I still voted yes, I like the idea, just don't know if they would be practical to manufacture based on volume.
 
The only question I ever get is...why?

I DID have a Kamui SS pop off Sunday. Very embarrassing... I prepped it like I normally do....

1. sand with 400
2. apply thin cyano to tip, then lightly sand again
3. scuff ferrule lightly with 400
4. locktite ultragel...

What I DIDN"T do is keep dropping cyano on it until it stopped soaking it up. I had a S that took 6 drops and STILL wanted more a couple years ago, so I just gave up on that tip altogether.

What I found when the SS popped off was basically NOTHING. Only trace evidence of adhesion on the ferrule. I can only conclude that the tip soaked up the gel in such quantities to compromise the bond.

It's the first tip I've had fall off in 3 years after initial problems with this exact issue.

SO......if the pad eliminates all the problems, that is great... However, what do I tell customers??? "I've had issues with a few tips in the past falling off because the didn't have pads"?
OR "I've had issues with tips falling off in the past because I didn't prep them well enough"?(I don't really like this one)

I have customers that want the clears, but I REALLY don't know what to tell others who want to know what the benefits truly are......

Maybe I just don't get it. I haven't gotten it in the past, so this is a real possibility....

OK...

So....

The pad eliminates any and all inconsistencies associated with the natural absorption of leather. The proprietary bonding agents and techniques used by Kamui are not within the realm of cuemakers and repairmen.
 
On the ultraskins, I always prime the tips, I use Loctite Gel Control,

after I scuff the tip, I apply the gel and let it activate, I even breathe on the gel, I was told that moisture is what activates the CA. Then after about a minute, I rescuff the tip and then reapply Gel and then do my standard application.

I have put on tip pads, for many different reasons, some of which are just the look and appearance that some people like, but I dont think it is necessary unless you are putting them on Ivory or Elkhorn or a ferrule of this type of material.

Just my opinion, take it for what its worth,

I have installed about 150 ultraskins so far, I have had 3 or 4 that a layer has come off while cutting them down, and I have had only 1 come off and that was after 6 months. So I have to say the track record so far is way above average, or just great.
