Shoulder replacement and pool

I need two new knees, and know how I am hindered by "original equipment", and have no guarantee of the out come of replacement surgery.
Buddy had Shoulder Surgery for a Torn Rotator Cuff a while back, he said it was the worst REHAB he had been through, and he has been through hell, and has 5 Viet Nam Purple Hearts to prove that fact!

I had surgery on my right shoulder. 2 bicep tears, dislocated out through the front, shoulder capsule was tore from top to bottom and the ligaments had to be all shortened alot.One of them an inch and the rest were far worse. Doc said all the work he had to do I got a deal. Kind of a 3 for one. I played pool with this shoulder like this from Jan 2009 until March 2010.
I could play one day and the next I could hardly scratch my nose with the right hand. But I could still play pretty good like that anyway. Used lots of ice.
I had the surgery and it was the most painful rehab I have ever had. Had back surgery and 2 knee surgeries and I'd rather have 4 more of them than another shoulder surgery.
While I was in rehab there was a gal that had a shoulder replacement. She seemed to not have the pain that the other people had. I don't quite know why. I would have thought it would be very painful.
I know this though. After surgery it was very difficult just to coordinate your everyday things like brushing your teeth or just trying to reach for something. You had to keep looking because the darn arm and hand just wouldn't go where you wanted it to go.
They told me it would take about a year to heal up as good as it would get and they were right. They told me 90% was as good as it will get. They were right.
I started playing after 4 months and won some pretty good tournaments but it was real painful. The tough part was I couldn't practice much and sometimes I would hurt it and set myself back a little.
Your shoulder can be pretty screwed up and you can still play pretty good. Some muscles make up for the ones that aren't working. Even your neck muscles try to help out. But that gives you a really sore neck.
I guess it all would depend on what kind of damage they did to the muscles or soft tissue when they did your replacement.
I'm not a doctor but I can tell you this. It's no fun trying to get your strength back and your stroke.
I had to stay up higher on the shots and shorten up my back stroke alot. I was just happy I could stroke.

PS Do exactly what the rehab people tell you to do. And I mean exactly..excercise alot.
