Flat bottom points are basically where the pocket for the point is cut fairly shallow and has a "flat bottom". Essentially, these points are done the same way as other inlays. I believe that Bill Stroud has been making cues since, at least, the seventies so a cue made in the early nineties is still pretty recent. For the record, not everyone is against the rounded points at the very end, although I'm not a fan regardless of the cuemaker. That being said, when you've been in the game as long as guys like Gina Cue and Joss West you're going to have more respect than Joe Schmo.
