This is a Meucci S/P that I purchased new in 1992. I selected the butt and shaft from a batch of new cues that had been received from Meucci. Very tight grain structure on the shaft. The butt and shaft remain perfectly straight. It was my third Meucci cue and the only one that I kept. It weighs 18.5 oz. with the balance point at 17.1” and is the only cue I own that is < 19 oz. with a balance point that is < 19”. Until recently, I did not understand why I would continue to like a cue so much that is so different than my traditional preferences. In January, I measured vital statistics for all of my cues and was surprised at the shaft dimensions for this cue. I was mistakenly led to believe that all Meucci cues are 12.75mm with long tapers. The shaft at the base of the ferrule is 13.1 mm and at 6”, the shaft is 13.45 mm. Those are very close to the dimensions of my favorite shafts on other cues. Goes against the belief that all Meuccis are whippy.
It is my first choice for a cue that I would take into an unknown pool room. Not because I want to hustle, but because it doesn’t draw any attention and if somehow it was stolen, etc., I would only be out the $110 that it cost. This is my only cue that paid for itself with winnings. In local weekly bar 9-ball tournaments in central NJ, I earned more money in tournament payouts than I paid in entry fees with enough left over to cover the initial purchase cost. Coupled with a great old Triangle tip, I can play pool all day with it.
It is not for sale.
