Last night I went for a game of pool and a couple of drinks with mates, everything was fine during the first game untill my mate noticed that the balls were rolling off a good 10 inches to the right when hit with centre ball on the cueball which is ridiculous!.

We couldn't move tables cos the place was full so it put a right downer on the night add to that the middle pocket falling out and you have yourself a right joke of a night out.

I wish rileys would get their act together and give us the playing equipment we deserve instead of dodgy pockets. slow cloth, dented balls (no pun intended) and uneven tables, I mean we are paying £12 an hour for the "privelage" of using their facilities.

btw Rileys is a national pool room chain here in the UK. The worst thing about the whole situation is that when you tell management about the problem they say there is nothing they can do because the room itself is owned by rileys.

what can I do because its the only pool room close to me but at the same time i'm sick of playing on bad equipment, basically i'm between a rock and a hard place.

If that the response your getting you could try to find a corporate number to call. They may or may not care how the local business is being ran, but if the locals are telling you its up to the higher ups then try and talk to the higher ups :)

FWIW I feel your pain, the only room with 9' tables left in our town has let their tables go to sh&t. But I have heard they may be getting some of them recovered. I can only hope, cause as it is now I have very little reason to try and get out to play.

Sounds like Rileys alright!!!

One of the EPA County teams in my region used to play from rileys and the state of the equiptment is scandalous. When we played there the cloths were so thin and worn out that i'm sure you could nearly see the slate through it. The worst part however, is the lighting. I dont know if they are trying to save money but i'm sure the tables were lit with 40W bulbs. There was 3 massive light "splodges/ rings" and the rest of the table and pockets were in darkness.

sad when this sort of thing is deemed to be acceptable...:crying:

i agree with the other guys, talk to the grown ups and the children will be disciplined. Give Head Office a ring and put in a formal complaint. You might be pissing in the wind but its better than not trying.

Hope it works out for you.

For whats it worth my friend I carry a level and tools in my car and if the tables bad I just fix it. Can't do anything about cloth but I've even gone to the store and bought brighter bulbs so we could play. I've also got a small portable vacuum in case they are really dirty. Doesn't hurt to be prepared and if some one asks you what your doing you say "your job".
