Side Pocket 5th Annual One Pocket Shoot Out

I still do not feel that tournies in SC and VA would draw the same folks.

How far do 2 events have to be from each other anyways?

I think the fact that it's what I would call a "specialty tournament" is what makes the difference here. 9 ball tournaments, compared to one pocket tournaments are a dime a dozen. One doesn't have to travel too far to find a 9 ball tournament but the folks that only play one pocket, or prefer one pocket, have very limited options.

There are a large number of players in the NC area that happens to be the half way mark as Grady has pointed out. Sadly for these folks, they only get to play in one event instead of two and now they have to decide which one to play in.

I reiterate, for those of you at the halfway mark, go to Grady's. Again, he's got a proven track record on many different levels when it comes to one pocket tournaments, he did his research and paid good, hard earned, tough to get (these days) money into advertising. Besides, the further south you go, the cheaper things like gas, food, & lodging seem to be.

The biggest problem with scheduling is there are so many events that it is almost impossible to schedule around events. The Richmond area has to work around events that are Northern, so more players will come to the event. Calvin tried waiting to the last minute to schedule his event, so we did not get stepped on for our event. Most players that played in our event were from Virginia and DC area. You may have lost a few players from our event, how many do you think the difference would have been?

I did play a part in helping with the scheduling and you can let me know so I can try and work around your scheduled event next year. Here is my email address, jruss1012@comcast.net. I probably will help out next year as well in the scheduling, so maybe we can work together trying to promote each others event and also not stepping on each other.

Another question I have for you did you post your event on AZBilliards via forum or AZBilliards tournament section on the site? The reason I ask is the lady who does the posts for the tournaments is really nice and helpful posting events. Here name is Sherry Pouncey. If you need here email or information I can provide it to you.

The one in Richmond had 34 players and here are the results from it.

The final results and payouts for the tournament
1st Leonardo Andam
2nd Eric Moore
3rd Matt Clatterbuck
4th Kris Mele
5th/6th Joe Russo/Richard Sanada

From what i saw it was mostly locals there. No one drove over 2 hours to get there is what i was told.

Sorry Grady if it affected your tournament. I wish you the best.
