Side-pocket bank

I have encountered the need to use this shot several times, however I have no way to aim this kind of bank. It's a 2 rail bank into a side pocket. First using a head/foot rail and then a side rail.

Here is an example of one of the many forms of this bank:

)END

Does anyone know how to aim this 2-rail bank? For one rail banks I use the mirrored table system, but this would involve too much thinking, and probably lead to a bad result. So is there a good way to see this bank?

I'm curious what game this shot would come up in? I never bank 2 rails into the side even playing bank pool, very tough shot. I do kick 2 rails a lot, and what method i use is, i visualize the two angles, and u can see from you're example that the two angles are virtually parralleled, i think to make a 2 rail bank/kick the two angles have to be parralel, i use this to visualize the shot, i used to have problems with 2 rail shots b4 i started doing this, and i have a lot of success with them now. What i do is visualize the cue ball/object ball's path and figuring out where the two lines will parralell each other, then use that to aim into the rails. If you hold a peice of paper to each of the two angles on you're example the lines are basically parralelled.

Hmmmm, If you Imagining the mirrored table already then its simple. Aim at the side pocket of the imaginary table kitty corner from the one your shooting on.

Ignoring the difference between cue ball and object ball paths, all two railers into the side can be lined up with the parallel system. Most two railers into the side can, alternatively, be lined up with the "plus" system (also called the "plus two" system) which pool borrows from three cushion billiards.

The shot is VERY common in Golf... Comes up all the time... 3-Hole and 6-Hole.... :)

That shot can vary quite a bit depending on how different tables play -- hitting the same spot on the rail on a table that plays 'long' gets pretty different results than on a table that plays 'short'. I tend to aim those shots by trying to turn the corner near that corner pocket in a specific manner -- pretty close to the pocket on a 'long' table, but a little wider on a table that plays 'short'. If you are playing Golf, you've also got to watch out for a kiss at the angle you are showing.

Also, contact induced or transfered english has quite a bit of effect on those two railers -- it just doesn't take until the object ball hits that second cushion. It's such a glancing long angle at the first cushion that english doesn't really do anything there, but it does at the second cushion where the object ball is coming in at a more head on angle. Knowing that, you can either open up or shorten up your shot as needed by taking advantage of contact induced or transfered english.

Hey Luke good to see your post.

This shot is used a lot in Bank Pool as a 2 way shot. If you miss you can easily leave the cue ball frozen to the top rail or frozen to another ball on the rail. It is just another extension of the 3 rail shot in the side when you dont have a cross corner bank.

1pocket is right here. The shot described depends a lot on the speed of the shot, the table brand and the cushions, transferred English, humidity conditions, worn cloth/brand new cloth etc. I think if you vary these parameters, the object ball has an area of 1,5 to 2 diamonds where it will land if shot at the same target point in the first cushion. So, there is no accurate way of having a target system for this shot.

I sometimes use this shot in bank pool but only if the object ball is near the short rail and I can stun the cueball near it and shoot the object ball away for the 2-rail bank. But I have to be familiar with the table...
