Anyone think it ironic or fitting that the very first posting of results on the IPT site today was Sigel losing 8 to 2 after the publicity he created for himself yesterday? :D

Justice I say. Also Hann, who beat him, is almost as obnoxious as Sigel on his day and equally controversial - he challenged on snooker player to a boxing bout after a confrontation during a match!

Not that I am agreeing with MIke SIgel or his recent actions and if I was Mike Zimmerman I would have some choice words for him out in the hall. I just think that it is funny that he is getting picked on my the masses here on AZ. There are plenty of pool players that act worse than him. But if they themselves post here, have friends, girlfirends, or spouses here then their actions both on a pool table & in their life are not only ignored but often commended. I was just wondering how people decide who to love and who to hate?

I think for him, it stems from his general comments made during the king of the hill broadcasts. He was on people's televisions, and rubbed a lot of people the wrong way with things he said and his attitude about himself. He was a little harder to ignore for those who were interested in watching the IPT broadcasts than the "plenty of pool players" who act worse that you mention.

I think we want sports stars to exhibit certain ideals or qualities. Someone's friend or girlfriend or spouse on here can act however the way they want. We have no vested interest in them. For a Mike Sigel who has won so many tournaments and was such a dominating player with such a following at one point, maybe people would prefer him to exhibit a bit of appreciation.

I find myself getting more cynical by the day. But I really think Sigel is playing the role of the WWF bad guy. And the WWF bad guy has to be both bad (obnoxious) and Bad (tough and scary).

Sigel's been doing a good job on the bad, but when we posted here that Efren could give Sigel 10-6 or 3 games on the wire to 9 or whatever (reasonable, imo) and that he had a light initial group, we were messing up the Bad. I suspect that when another IPTer posted here that Sigel was a bigger force to be reckoned with than we were allowing, it was an attempt to restore the "Bad." Evidently Stan James (Sigel at 150 to 1, Efren at 10-1).

I really think Linda that you should watch the accustat tape where Sigel breaks his stick (Mike Z. get it for her as a gift). Sigel looks so high strung and self conscious about his "come back" that the incident isn't really all that surprising.
