Not sure if you noticed this either but... some of the commentating for the entire match was different (I noticed this when Sigel banked an 8 ball short of the side pocket and said "it went long" when it didnt, I remember Lori saying something there on the DVD that was left out on the broadcast and was changed). Also they used other some other camera angles on the broadcast, different then whats on the DVD. I assume they saw some people *****ing about how they couldnt se certain shots and because of the bad camera work and tried to fix it. I think they did an OK job.

Overall, it wasnt much different then the DVD, but I still watched it :D
Yeah, I did notice that the commentary was different in many places. They actually did make some improvements to the commentary of the DVD. Though, I wish they did much more, like totally redo the entire commentary.

I don't know if this appeared in the TV broadcast yesterday (i'm positive they would have editted it out), but on the DVD there is another hilarious comment by LJJ when Efren was shooting. I forgot what rack or set it was, but Efren was in the middle of his run shooting stripes. There was a striped ball between the 8ball and the corner pocket. Efren shot the striped ball into the corner pocket, and LJJ said something like (I'm paraphrasing)...

"See how Efren chose to shoot that striped ball in the corner now? He shot it to free up the 8 ball to the corner pocket."

Bahahahaha! As if Efren was going to shoot the 8 ball before knocking all his stripes in first? :p Man, that was classic. I wonder if you caught that one Heath in the DVD. :D

Just a note: I don't mean to be so hard on LJJ. I really don't blame her as much as I blame the people who edit and review the commentary before making the match broadcasts a final product (DVD/TV broadcast). Doesn't the IPT have any standards? Are they only checking for grammar? They surely aren't checking for spelling and pronunciation ("Efrem", "Manilow", etc). LOL.

Maybe I misunderstand the context, but Loree Jon's comment sounds like it makes sense to me. It sounds like she was just complimenting his pattern for the fact that the stripe had to be cleared to play the 8 properly and it was better to do it then rather than later in the rack.

I remember it. Yeah, but he has to shoot the ball anyway before the 8, it's not like he is breaking the 8 out or anything, he has to shoot the stripe in his run.

Yeah I remember that comment among other bonehead ones.:D

But remember, Efren was shooting stripes! Was the 8 in any real danger with that striped ball blocking its path to that pocket?

It's like saying in a game of 9ball, "See how Efren shot that 1 ball in to clear the 9's path to that pocket."

Hehe, maybe i'm the only one that finds this comical.

Heath, as I remember viewing it last night on OLN. Lori said Sigel had been practicing on that table earlier and all his bank shots went long and this one went short, thus the comment by Mike. With my one encounter of an IPA Diamond table, they are a lot harder to dial-in on bank shots. I found it easier to bank without using any English (inside/outside). One I used English the banks became very unpredictable. But maybe that's only my experience on a westcoast table? Bugs

OLN is scheduled to reair the IPA shows again on July 25th:

I got my copy of the OLN match between Sigel and Reyes. It actually wasn't all that bad of a match. Mike found himself in a bad situation every time he got to the table in the 1st set. The 2nd set was a lot more interesting. I suppose if the roles were reversed and Mike won instead of Reyes people might have liked it better.

When Mike banked and it was short he said it was playing long. And LJJ explained that during practice Mike said the table was playing long.

It must have been humid in there since he said the table was wet which slows the balls down and makes it bank short.

What surprised me is how Mike was jumping all over the place when he shot. Not exactly a picture pretty stroke.

But, all in all, I enjoyed it.

Jake

It absolutely must've been because I'm sure Mike wouldn't have been making up excuses as to why he was getting his rear end handed to him. :p

Somebody must have hosed down the table before the match then, because he left it short by 4". Humidity doesn't affect the table that much. Maybe it was because of the "tighter pockets and slow nap cloth" they seem to go on about.
