Sigel Vs Reyes, History???

History reveals that they used to call Sigel "Mr. Finals," due to his overwhelming win ratio when making it to the finals. They used to call Efren Reyes a whole slew of bridesmaid names like "Mr. Second Place," because of his overwhelming loss record when he made it to the finals.

I do think Efren did win one finals against Sigel, but I don't remember anyone posting more than one. So, Efren lost to Sigel more times than vice versa.

Sigel got the best of it. His break was much better than Efren's. Efren also had trouble with Nick Varner back then. Many people don't remember that Efren had a lot of trouble winning again after Red's in Houston. He may have won one tournament from the mid 80's until the early 90's.

Of course, he wasn't able to play that many, as getting extended Visas was not so easy for him at that time. He began to spend more time in the U.S. during the late 80's, at the Chicago School of Pool, run by Freddie The Beard and Billy Cardon. They taught him how to break the balls in 9-Ball, as well as a little One Pocket (lol Freddie). From the early 90's on, Efren began to win 9-Ball tournaments. And do okay at One Hole too.
 
After the Red's event, Efren got screwed by his financier. The guy didn't give Efren all his share of winning through the side betting. He spend about 8-9 years out of the US because he has no financier. Then he was again picked up by an American gambler (eerrrr... financier). He came to US purely for money. It's not greed; it's his job. It's how he makes a living to feed his family.

Some experts today are debating why Reyes had many second place finishes early in his career in the US during his prime given that he is a gambler.
