I found a piece left on a table the other day. Based on all the bad press i've seen on this little cube i thought i'd give it a work-out. Verdict? It works fine. Yes its a little different texture than my usual Master(no big deal) but i never miscued(i chalk about every other shot) . I know that ChampionshipBilliards now owns SC and i've heard they may be coming out with a new formulation. Don't hesitate to try it, good basic chalk that does its job.

Got a box of those when I bought cloth. I really like it, seems a little less gritty than masters.

Nothing wrong with it or most chalks until they get flamed here. If Master and Silver were the only chalks available they would be used with no complaints.

Before we had 20 dollar cubes of chalk, did anybody actually pay attention to how long a cube lasted. I would just “trade” for newer ones at the pool hall every few months.

I've used master ever since i started playing.
Got some of the Taom and pagulayan chalk out of curiousity and have been trying it the past few weeks.
I am not sure if something new and shiny and hyped up is affecting my judgment but I will share what ive seen.
Seems to stay on the tip longer, but if you chalk after every shot or every other shot, doesnt really matter.
It does seem to be much cleaner, less marks on the felt. no clue how that works.
As for quality of shot/less misscues. i cant tell any differance.
As for the price compared to other chalks. I would say what other people on here say when talking about High priced Custom cues vs house cue.
If YOU play better with it. Then yes, keep doing it.

Silver cup is good, actually any of the major chalk producers is good as long as you chalk on every shot. Silver cup is just messy for the way I use the chalk, shifted to Taom and the mess is all gone

I got a new opinion of silver cup. I just recently spent several practice sessions using a house cue with what appeared to be a le pro and masters chalk. As I’ve always been a silver cup guy I looked at the masters with fresh eyes. It’s smother and goes on easier. If you have poor tip maintenance then this will go on much easier than silver cup and cover up less than perfect tip surface. Also it feels smoother when applying, so if you just switch to silver cup it might feel gritty or have a less pleasant tactile feedback.

Going back to my silver cup I notice that it really grabs to a lightly scuffed tip excellently. And it seems to stay on the tip a little better. To maintain it, I give a few tiny brush strokes to the part of the tip that needs it sometimes just a quadrant of the tip or less. Using it like this it’s not messy and lasts for a long time. I first learned to draw the ball better with silver cup better than masters so I’ve always been partial to it.

Silver Cup is good chalk and anyone that doesn’t agree can spin around three times both eyes closed, shoot off handed, and spot me the eight.
