Siming Chen?

At only 29, Siming Chen seems to have completely disappeared from Fargo rankings and major tournaments. She was considered one of the top female players in the world with one of the most beautiful rhythmic strokes just a few years ago, and competed in some of the major open tournaments with the men.

Since her well documented practice sessions with SVB just a few years ago (I believe during the early stages of Covid) I’ve not seen her in any tournament fields. Does anyone know what’s going on with her whether it’s due to China politics?

It has been announced that Zheng will play in the World Pool Masters. If he does, he'll be the first person from mainland China to compete in a high-profile pool event outside of Asia since the pandemic.

Perhaps Zheng's expected participation in the World Pool Masters will set the stage for the other stars of China, such as Liu Haitao, Wu Jiaqing, Siming Chen and Han Yu, to return to international competition.

No telling with that government.
I’m not seeing any male Chinese players in Las Vegas Open field either, so I’m assuming it’s likely some restrictions have been placed on their professional pool players by their country.

Most of the top mainland players are getting ready for the big 750,000 to win Ch8b event. Probably right on the travel deal as well.

There has not been a single Chinese pool player to leave the country since C broke. They are "all" missing from the Fargo active lists, both male and female. China just opened their borders in November, and relaxed their "zero C policy". Hopefully this is the year their players return to international competition.

I'm crossing my fingers Siming will be another wildcard pick for the World Pool Masters. She would be a big viewer ratings draw, IMO.

My hot-take on pro pool is this:
Play where your income minus your expenses is the greatest.
Travelling around the world ain't cheap, and it's tiresome.
Last year's world pool's leading money-maker was Fedor Gorst. And he never left the US.

There's tons of events in China for their pro players to make money.
At this point the Chinese players don't seem to care much about playing internationally.
And I'm pretty certain none of them give two sh!ts about the West's fargorate world rankings lol
