Simonis 860 HR cloth

let us know. i hope they come through and i guess they will if its their fault. as this website can ruin a person or company as it should be if its ethics are not up to par.

they had to know of the problems with their cloth after the flood. yet still sold it to unsuspecting persons.
but there is a chain of command from the maker to distributor to the installer. all of whom should not have let it go out of their hands if flawed. no excuses.

I have had simonis installed many times and used to do it myself. It's not right. The ball does not slide, it bends dramatically off any kick or bank. Several inches depending the angle. It's like you know how a cue ball reacts when you make a hanger with high English. That's how almost all shots are.

I'm going to contact Simonis Monday with the S#. I'll let you guys know.
Sounds like a bummer and good luck. Sounds like simonis should supply you with new cloth gratis or come with an alternative but satisfactory remedy for you.

you have no proof to back up anything you just spewed. think they hand inspect every bolt they make??? you make it sound like they conspired to do this. pure lunacy.

Every half-wit has their theory. Simonis is aware of the issue and is sending replacements to those affected if they supply a photo of the serial number which is visible with a UV flashlight.

I decided last night to work on the cloth. and by work on it, I took a shaving razor & straight razor and shaved off alot of the fuzziness. It was a harvest of blue fuzzy. I even blew my nose and blue fuzzy came out! Lol

But the table plays much better now and truer. I cleaned the table and brushed it.

I'm going to do it again later today. I'm still going to talk to simonis but I figured one way or another, take shot fixing it, or buy/get new cloth.

Interesting. What type of razor worked best? I’m tempted to try it myself.

No shaving cream, right? 😂

Edit: in the interest of science, I just took my Gillette Mach 3 and shaved a small 1x4” area on my table aggressively from all directions with light to heavy force. Only a very tiny bit of fuzz came off and stuck to the blades, and I couldn’t see any difference to the spot I worked on for a minute. So it’s a bust for me, at least with that type of razor.

That just shows you how much was on mine. It was alot.

Harry's I believe and then just a straight utility knife razor.

Look up fabric shavers. They are sort of like electric razors but made for getting fuzz or piling off of sweaters.

Does anyone have any experience with the 860HR? it's on my new 7ft diamond pro-am and it's fuzzy and the balls slide terrible. I've had 860 before and it wasn't fuzzy and the balls didn't slide like this.

I hate it. I also have a 9ft pro am, about 2 years old, it had new cloth on it and it was nothing like this, I believe it's just the 860.

I've also heard that Simonis cloth isn't what it used to be. I thought about getting 860 and just replacing the bed cloth and leaving the rails with the HR or getting another brand altogether.

any thoughts? I appreciate it.
Bottom line - If you buy your cloth directly from Simonis like I do or through an authorized Simonis dealer, you should not have a problem. Buying it from any other seller might be an issue to get reimbursed / replacement cloth.

Not likely in this instance, Chris. Simonis knows the S/N of the bad batch. So long as you can provide a pic of the watermark under black light, they’ll take care of it.

Thanks, worth a try - just ordered this Amazon bestseller for $13:

It worked! Thanks @boogieman!

I spent around 20 seconds on a 4" diameter section of my cloth, and here are pics of the result. The two cues point to the left and right boundaries of the area I shaved, and you can see the fuzz that got shaved in the razor's clear plastic reservoir. It's going to take a good amount of time to do the whole table, but I think this is probably the best way to salvage the defective cloth that I got installed last October, so I'll be able to save my replacement cloth for when I wear this one out.

Yes, this is exactly what mine looked like before and after. Way too much fuzz on there.

I received an email back from Simonis which for me, opens up a whole other can of worms, they are saying this is 860 simonis, not 860HR...

THE FACTORY STATES THERE WERE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS ROLL OF 860 ( NOT HR) CLOTH

Hello,

can you tell me if the serial # for SImonis 860 HR cloth is part of a bad batch?

Did you send them good pics?

for sure, pics of the serial # and cloth. They pulled that # that is was only 860 and no issues. I'm glad I went ahead and shaved the cloth down. it's playing like normal cloth now. even the pockets are starting to hang balls where no way they would hang before.

going forward, if I need new cloth, I may consider other brands now where before, no way. I've played on Predator and Andy Cloth and they played fine. Not sure if they hold up as long.

well whoever installed it and charged you for hr cloth lied or isnt up to snuff on his skills.
and that cloth is bad. and simonis should replace it with installation without having you work on it to make it playable, or the person who installed it. and he should never have left your house, unless on a dead run to get away before you caught him.

and to anybody having table work done. dont pay or let them go until you roll balls all over the table to make sure there are no bumps or seams sticking up. and the balls all roll straight and the rails work as they should. this at a minimum.

I hate to inform you, but based on these photos, unless it is defective cloth, it surely appears to me your cloth may have been installed with the wrong side facing up.
