Simonis Cloth - Ball "Tracking"

Just had a Gold Crown with Simonis 860 installed. I'm finding that on slow rolls of the cue ball across the table, the ball "veers" to the right about one to one-and-a-half ball widths (sometimes less) when shooting from one side of the table to the other. The ball begins straight, and then when it begins to slow down, it starts to veer for the last ~12 inches of roll until it stops. When shooting in the opposite direction, it veers to the left instead.

When I inspect the cloth, it appears as though the "grain" runs diagonally across the table, from one corner pocket to the other. I've tried to roll the cue ball with the grain, but am getting inconsistent results. I am worried that the table may not be level, though I don't know if what I'm seeing is normal for Simonis cloth until it is broken in. Is what I'm describing normal "tracking," or should I escalate with the installer to determine whether the table is level? Problem is, they are about 3 hours away.

Anyone have any insight? Thanks!

DO YOU HAVE A LEVEL?? That would be a good place to start.

Was the name Simonis on the topside when the cloth was put on the table?

I don't have a mechanic's level that's typically used for pool table installations. The torpedo level I do have doesn't show any huge discrepancies across the table - but I doubt it's accurate enough for this particular application.

I did see the name Simonis on the edge of the cloth when the install was happening, yes. There was also a sticker that said "This side playing surface" (or something to that effect) with the Iwan Simonis logo.

It seems to me that the table is not level, the grain is supposed to be diagonal. A ball and a half is a lot side to side. Call the installer and try to coordinate a visit when he is in your area. Good Luck to you!

Thanks Trent. What would be involved on his end to re-level the table? Would they need to disassemble the rails, remove the cloth, etc?
