Situational Fargo

I think the fair comparison in a match is your average Fargo against one of your situational Fargoes. That's assuming someone uses your average in a situation.
My average fargo is very near my tournament fargo because for the last year I haven't been playing league and I think the more recent matches weigh heavier which were all tournament?

It seems unlikely I hit a gear and am moving up at my age. I was watching Roadrunner playing as she was elevating through my long stagnant fargo about the time she and I were even and thought I didn't want any part of the ass beating she would give to me. I see this a lot with up and coming players. Even though at that moment in time we are at an even fargo rate. Big difference between a 600 on their way to 700 quickly and me. So in that regard there is that "situational" fargo to take into consideration especially with younger players.

Interesting. For me it would likely be the other way around.

When I'm playing in a tournament I don't really care all that much (it's not that I don't care, otherwise I wouldn't play). But in league I give 100% every single time cause I don't want to let me team down.
No wonder I get beat down in league. You guys are taking it way too seriously!:D

I disagree with this, at least for the Northeast. You see the stronger players coming out for most of the open events. Fargo has become such a talking point that people match up less often unless they can negotiate some type of advantage, so more arguments. When the skill levels are unknown, you just play and adjust accordingly.

If you are unrated or above 600, there's so few events that pop up unless you like to travel. Then, even if you win the event, you still lose out due to travel costs.

It's become just a more widely accepted handicap system that allows people to complain about everyone sandbagging. Same exact arguments that you hear in APA, just on a bigger scale. I'm not against Fargo, its just become really annoying to hear about it from all the players around me.
There should be no handicap when the Fargo difference is 50-75 points max, I will play people within 75 points regularly.
I think Fargo caps bring a lot more players to tournaments, I don't think most players enter tournaments with the hope of winning, I think most are happy to just go a couple rounds. Nobody wants to be first round fodder and Fargo capped tourneys give guys hope that they wont be, it will still happen to a quarter or half the field but it probably wont happen to the same guys every week. More of a chance of that being a thing for weaker players in open tourneys. Its easy for some to say "git gud" but a lot of players have families and careers that wont allow them to spend 5 nights a week at the table and that a minimum of what it takes. Even if you have a home table it can be tough to put in the time with shuffling kids around, kid activities, mowing the lawn, projects around the house and keeping the other half happy.
As far as sandbagging I think its really tough to do with Fargo and have much of an impact. That just falls under the heading of players thinking that they are all that when they really are not and just got skunked by someone 25 points better than them. In their own mind they think they shouldnt lose but that aint how the real world works.

Capped tournaments are horrible because 95 out of 100 of them pick the same cap of 499 or 599.

I’d bet a 595 that travels around competing makes more money than a 750 pro.

That 595 better drive around Texas or he'll get broke. Theres capped tournaments all over Houston, Dallas, Austin and San Antonio and anybody that can play can win them, especially on the BarBox or the 8' tables.

Not if they are all 599 caps. If random, yes.
