SJM and Kollege Dave Hook up at the Amsterdam Billiard Club

I hooked up with KollegeDave this afternoon at the Amsterdam Billiard Club. Dave is a rock solid player and a really nice guy, too, whose company I greatly enjoyed.

We shot pool together for about five hours, and it was a classic all-around practice. We began with two 9-ball races to nine, then we played two races to three in one-pocket, and then played a little straight pool.

Dave's sportsmanship is just as solid as his game, too. Pleased to have met another AZB member and made a new friend.

I hope other AZB members will follow in the footsteps of KollegeDave and PM me in advance if planning to visit New York City to set up a game. I also hope that other AZB members are lucky enough to get to shoot with KollegeDave, whose company I highly recommend.

SJM,
Now you know we are all interested in the scores. I'm assuming you won since you failed to mention the details (either modesty on your part or just part of your devious scheme to reduce the mammoth spot you are going to give me the next time we lock horns).

I see this as a prime example of what I'm calling the "great AZB flaw." I REALLY ENJOY reading the exploits (league/tournament/gambling) of the players on the board. I REALLY ENJOY getting some sense of the relative abilities of the members (a really nice fringe benefit of the AZB room at DCC).

BUT, I think many (including me, and especially you and the higher level players) are reluctant to describe in very great detail for fear of looking like braggarts in front of a large panel of very accomplished players. I wish we could just do away with all of the reluctance, and declare a moratorium on criticizing members who chronicle their exploits. I do think it would enhance the lurking/browsing experience here at AZB, and would also help promote the sense of camaraderie that is definitely developing. JMO.

Well, I can say that I did much better in the one pocket than I thought I would, Willie.

Still, my object here is to focus on and further promote the goodwill that brings AZB members together for a nice game of pool.

SJM,

Thanx for the nice words. I would recommend that any AZer who is going to be in the NY area get in touch with SJM because he is a strong player with a lot of knowledge to share. Moreover, Amsterdam Billiards is a great room. It took me awhile to get used to the top notch equipment, but it was a pleasure to play there.

SJM,
Your views are noted. Have you considered a career in politics???

I will also state that I would also welcome a PM from any AZB'ers anticipating a trip to Indy who would be interested in a game of pool....oh wait, no one in their right mind would be travelling to Indy....nevermind... I guess I can just practice by myself (I would have said play by or with myself but that would just stir up the more licentious posters).

I hope you're spending some time studying on your little NY vacation! Gotta keep up that GPA!

I am spending very little time studying, but my GPA will be fine. What is that strange avatar you have?
