SJM at WPBA Michigan City

Outstanding analysis as usual.

It was a pleasure hanging out tonight! Yu Ram Cha is clearly on her way to making a permanent presence on the tour and perhaps beyond. It was a great experience watching that match with her and Karen Corr with your real time observations and thanks again for your overwhelming generosity!

Man oh man, those girls can party can't they? :D

Thanks again!

More to follow when I wake up! lol

Sunday is in the books and it provided some compelling drama.

Jasmin Ouschan vs Karen Corr a bit one-sided as Jasmin jumped out to 3-0 and appeared headed for 4-0 when she missed shape on a three ball and had to play safe. Karen came with an extraordinary masse to pull within 3-1, but was unable to maintain the momentum, and Jasmin ran the racks efficiently to score a well-deserved victory.

Kelly Fisher got a stiff test from Xiaoting Pan, a match I was lucky enough to sweat with soon to be hall of famer Allison Fisher. The play was exceptional up to 3-3, but Kelly grabbed the next two for 5-3 and should have gotten out for 6-3, but a mistake led to 5-4. Pan had a tough runout chance to tie the match, with the key shot being the six in the side in which she'd run into the 7-8 cluster, but she wasn't up to the task, and followed it with an ineffective safety that, ulitmately, spelled 6-4 and was the realistic end of her chances to reach the final, with Kelly Fisher the deserving winner.

Jamsin was exceptional in the final, which will make for some great TV, and Kelly, as she noted in her speech to the crowd, had few good looks at the table in a match that showcased Jasmin's great skills.

After the remarkable escape from 8-4 down vs Pam Treadway Cimarelli, Jasmin scored remarkable one-sided victories against Ga Young Kim, Karen Corr and Kelly Fisher and was an especially deserving champion.

Well played, Jasmin.

I had the pleasure to put the face with the (screen)name and meet SJM this weekend at the tournament. Stu, thanks for the great reports to keep us all up to speed all weekend. Here's a link to a local NWIndiana newspaper site that did a few articles over the weekend about the event, this being the one that appeared in Monday's edition:

http://www.post-trib.com/sports/1633306,pool-bluechip-0622.article

I took pictures, but haven't had time to resize them for posting. When I do, I'll post them in this thread to go along with Stu's great onsite reports!

Yes as always Stu does a fantastic wrapup analysis. During the streaming the commentators occasionally mentioned something happening on other tables without much explaination on the match significance. It was always good to know I could check on AZforums and Stu would have it all explained.
My only question is why didn't he take the opportunity to comment in the stream. I suspect it was cause all us chatterboxes in the chat would have distracted him from enjoying the experience.

Great pic of the T man, Sunny, whom I convinced to hang out with the gang on Saturday. Was great seeing you and partying with you. Hope we get to do it again soon.

I think you convinced "T" to come out so you can rub it into his face how much of good time you are having as a board member of WPBA. On Friday night, you had this "Joker Grin" that never left your face. I guess, being the only man in a group of 30 ladies (WPBA Pros & friends) will do that to a man:rolleyes:

Here is a shot of SJM with that Joker Grin...

LOL, Sunny. Very fitting that you showed me with Line, as she was the first one that got me onto the dance floor on Friday night, and as you know, a few others this weekend had similar success doing so.

Pleased to note, Andrea, that I approached your BCA Masters teammate Liz Cole to congratulate her on your team's big win in Vegas. She's delightful, and I was glad that we had a couple of opportunities to chat during the weekend.

Lizzy is a sweetheart!!!!!(btw, and knows how to have fun with the best of them.:D) Im glad you were able to meet and talk to her.

I will tell ya this much Stu. Its so special playing with my team mates.
Our support of one another is truly unique. Every time Lizzy goes out of town to a pro event, I make sure I am updated on how she is doing.
I believe the support is why we are successful as a team. And as singles players.

Cindy, Jackie, Mary, Lizzy, and I truly love eachother!!!!

Thats what made our win so extra special to me.

Here's a few pictures...as good as my camera will do in low-light environments:

1. Karen warms up prior to her semi.

2. Pan bearing down on a shot during her semi with Kelly.

3. Kelly warming up prior to the finals.

4. Jasmin ready for the opening break of the finals. Note the beautiful Brunswick table being used. It's a limited edition (10 produced), $25,000 'Zanzibar' model.

5. The finalists with their trophies.

Sunnyday,
I guess the old adage "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas" doesn't apply to these tournaments.

Credits to "T" for not spilling the beans.

I see by the great photo you took, that SJM has many other career opportunities in front of him.

For the record, all those pictures were photoshopped.

Shame on you sunnyday! :D

Actually, I was more of a tree in the yard than anything. I was honestly quite overwhelmed by it all which is very rare for me. This was sjm's world and I was just a humble and grateful guest in it.

BTW, I heard that sjm has won the same lifetime achievement award twice. Is that true? :D

Yes, it's interesting for me being both a 51-year-old man and also "one of the girls." The Blue Chip Casino Hotel provided a great party scene and, as you know, many of us took advantage of it. Glad you were part of it.

BTW, I heard that sjm has won the same lifetime achievement award twice. Is that true? :D

Most definitely not true, but it gives me something to aspire to.

Here's a link to another follow-up article in one of the local NWIndiana newspapers:

Also, here's a link to an article in the other local NWI newspaper:

It's nice to see the ladies getting some coverage in the local media.

Thanks for these. I was reading the local newspaper every day while I was in town, but these articles escaped my attention.
