Trying to mark my calendar, I'm wondering what "Dia de la Candelaria (MX)" means on this date, February 2, and it's also Groundhog Day. I sure hope the little critter didn't have a problem with his shadow. It's a little chilly in my neck of the woods! :p

Dia de la Candelaria

"El dia de la Candelaria" is the day of the Candle or Light, known as the Day of Purification. It is celebrated on February 2nd. That day, the Nativity scene is put away with a party given by the person who got the Baby Jesus in his/her piece of bread during the Rosca de Reyes celebration. He or she will be responsible for making a "Ropon" or christening gown for Baby Jesus. Generally, they have a Dinner with Tamales (Tamales are corn bread filled with meats in a sauce or raisins wrapped in corn husks).

I watched it again last night, and it was the match with Earl, Larry "The Truth" Nevel -- where did he get that moniker? (LOL) -- Charlie, and Niels. Because Niels got a skin in this match, he was automatically advanced to the finals, where he won a whopping $42,500!

Tonight, it's going to be on again. I noticed that on ESPN2 right before the Skins came on, they had a juggling competition. And if you think pool players may not dress appropriately from time to time, you should have seen these eggs. I think I've seen it all now. :D

I'm hoping tonight is the semi-finals with the foursome of Rodney, Luc Salvas, Hohmann, and Keith!

BTW, does anybody know if whether the infamous Punxsutawney Groundhog saw his shadow yesterday or not? I went to the website and can't find a thing!

I was glued to the TV during the late afternoon. It was on in the Chicago area around 5:00 PM.

No Shadow, sorry to report.

I liked watching the Skins format. I think it was good for TV. As a viewer, I get to view 4 players throughout the episode, rather than the usual 2.

What did everyone think of Earl's No call foul on the 5 ball?

Hi Jam,

Unfortunately, Phil saw his shadow and went back to sleep for 6 more weeks.

I read that he has seen his shadow something like 95 times out of the 114 or so times that they've done this. Personally, I think we need to find a new rodent to handle the job.
