Slack in pockets.

When you're closing up the pockets, and you find you don't quite have enough slack in the pockets to secure the flaps, what can you do about it, as opposed to having a big bubble in the finish of the pockets, especially the side pockets?

I'll take stab. Use the 3m Scotch-Weld glue to hold the flap down.

PS...how much end to end and side to side stretch, in inches, for an 8' Diamond home table using simonis 860....he he, partial hijack since I'm doing this in the next day...seriously, I don't know the answer, but need one :)

Plan ahead and have your own bolt of cloth. Measure twice. grab the pliers and neutral 10.Cut another piece and fold to cover the flaps. Ron:thumbup:

Don't wait till last to stretch your side pockets. Get the cloth snug, the stretch your pockets and do a final stretch on the sides and end.

It takes a few times till you can do it without making wrinkles in the side pockets but it actually works best in my opinion, once you get the hang of it.

Another trick I've done that I learned from my installers is to make a fist and push down on the felt over the side pockets while your stapling the sides. This gives you something that looks like a little bowl in the side pockets and makes it really easy to finish. This is the easier method but I like the first one a little better if I have the extra time.

I hope one of these can work for you too!

I'll help you guys out on this one. If you ever run into a pocket that you didn't quite pull enough slack in the pocket to finish it off easy, take a rag, soak it in water, then use it to wet the cloth in the pockets. Wetting the cloth in the pockets will cause the cloth to stretch much further than it will dry, enough to finish off the pocket, as long as you DO have some slack in the pockets to work with first;)
