slate line showing through cloth

I've got a 07/08 9ft brunswick bradford model that has a line showing through the cloth. When I run my fingers across the line I can feel a raised ridge and assume the slate pieces are not leveled. Balls make a noise when they run across it as well. Could this be faulty slate or just a bad install job? The table is in my garage on carpet, the room has hvac just like the rest of the house. So not much temp changes. I attached a picture of the line.

Also what's the average price to have a 9ft brunswick recovered with 860 simonis and leveled? $525?

Yes, the slate seams have come apart. Price....depends on your area as they differ from coast to coast and everywhere in between.
 
fixing the slate seams

Is fixing the slate seams a major problem? Or just a problem that is easily fixed by an experienced table mechanic?

What normally causes the slate seams to split?

The Slate seam repair is not a big deal for a properly trained experienced table mechanic to fix, the reason the slates shift can be because of one or more many problems, the frame can settle or become loose from the wood compressing at the fasteners, the slates can be screwed wrong or loosely or be missing slate screws or the wood came be striped at. The slate screws, the shim material can come loose or fall out.. To fix the problem all fasteners will need to checked for looseness or missing hardware, the slates will have to be separated and checked for striped out slate screw holes....depending on the method use to seal the seam with wick bonding, wax or bondo can be used but the wax has to be removed in areas to wick and glue or 100% of wax has to be removed to use bondo'

As for $525 for the cost of recover and level slates, sounds like someone gave a price to do the work..that price sounds like they bid it to get it..there could be some repairs needed that cost extra but are not found until table is took apart...

I would try to find a reputable mechanic recommended here to do the work other wise buyer beware to many hackers out there.
