Sledgehammer weight bolt

The other thread got deleted.
But as a FYI in case it comes up again, the weight bolt thread ended up being 7/16 14. I got a piece of all thread and was able to add about 3 oz worth to the cue. Just cut to length and cut a slot for the head, then replaced the bumper with a push in instead of a screw in bumper.

Thanx for the follow-up.
How did you finally determine the thread size?

KJ

Process of elimination. Figuring it was in between the standard 3/8 and 1/2, I went to the hardware store and bought a 7/16 and a 10mm bolt. It was the 7/16, but Lowes selection of bolts/screws are limited. I would have even settled for a cap head but they didnt have what I wanted, so I went with the all thread.

Next time, go to a good hardware store. Ours has oodles of different screws in all different sizes.

I just had one recently where they wanted the cue heavier, and it was a 7/16-14....problem was the Ace hardware and two private hardware stores didn't have an All threaded bolt in that size..
I used All threaded rod also, same method as the OP described.. Time to put another order in for set screws from my supplier.

Yep, that's what I do Dave. Fastenal is usually a little on the high side but they give me a good discount so I buy socket head set screws from them for weight bolts. If they don't work with you on price, tell them you can buy it cheaper online somewhere and they will give an individual up to about a 30% discount.
