slightly warped shaft

I've got a McDaniel he made for me around 1980. The shaft is slightly warped. Any possible way to straighten it out?

Blackeee, save yourself valuable time and money. Have McDaniel make you a new shaft for your cue. If the shaft is truly warped, it won't straighten out and stay that way. It's kind of like a when a cucumber becomes a pickle...its not going to be a cucumber again. :D YMMV.

Man ... this question comes up time and time again.

There is no fix for a warped shaft other than re-tapering.
Even if that can be done it is no sure thing it will stay straight.

Why did the shaft warp?
Did you keep it in the car?

No matter ... have another shaft made by a cuemaker and get on with pool life.
Hell ... Have two made and you got a spare.
Shafts are cheap when you figure what a new cue will cost.
Shafts are the heart and soul of a cue.
It is where all the playability is at.
The best way to change the way a cue plays is to change the shaft profile.
Hope this helps you.

I haven't found any long term method for straightening either. It can be done, but won't hold for long, and is a no winning battle to even try and keep up with IMHO. If It wasn't so bad as to effect play, then I would try to deal with it, but if so bad I couldn't live with it, I'd make a new shaft or have the maker match a new one as to keep their original taper on the cue.

Well WC,thanks for your informative reply. I haven't played with the cue in 17 years having kept it in the case, not the car. Also, Bill is a close friend of mine who would have gladly made me another shaft had I know it was warped. He, however, is now out of business due to health concerns. I now play with a Joss with a 314-2 predator shaft, which I will try to make sure not to leave in the car. Once again thanks for yoiur reply.
