Again, I think the market appeal of the IPT is to the non player (or people who play casually a few times a year).
People who are serious about the game prefer to watch entire matches, not highlights and maybe 1 full game. Its the same thing ESPN did with the cheerleader/football players teaming up with the pros playing doubles matches, or how about the dual table format....... Sucked for people wanting to watch a full set, but had mass appeal to the remote control flickers who played last week in the local pub. On the other hand you take the PBT.... that was a long race set into a 2 hour format. If they had dead time at the end, they used it for highlights, interviews and instructional time.
Anyhow, the real rules thing, in my opinion is a ploy for all the bar players out there who think they are playing "REAL POOL" cause you have to call what ball the object ball hits, what chicken finger grease stain the ball will roll over, and who puked in the garbage can before the shot is "legal"
