So I just got a ping pong table and surprising noticed that not only are there tournaments cheaper but the payout on average was higher! The ITTF prize fund for this previous season was 3 Million. Pool deserves that IMO...

I'm surprised....

Hopefully pool will at least have this type of payout in the near future. In Asia, it looks like pool is becoming more and more popular as the years pass.

Congratulations on your desire to pursue ping pong.
I didn't know the money was proportionately better in ping pong than in
pool.

Although I wish you all the luck in the world in getting a piece of that pie.
IMO, the competition is more fierce in ping pong.
Asians dominant the sport.

Unfortunately, you will have less time in ping pong to play competitively: it's
a grueling sport and retirement comes earlier for most players in ping pong than
in pool.

Good luck with all that, Filluptieu.

LOL, your response cracks me up. I love pool to much to do that and no I'm not a world beater and can't survive off playing pool or ping pong for a living. The purpose here is a light at the end of the tunnel for $$'s that players in tournaments to look forward too.

Although I'm way too out of shape now, to play very well, I used to be pretty decent at table tennis. I won a few college tournaments, back in the 70's. Now, because I have a lot of back problems, I play pool.

I enjoy the physics and geometry of pool but the luck factor has put a bad taste in my mouth. In fact, it is all I can do to enjoy pool any more because there is so much luck involved.

I've had people suggest one pocket but I really don't enjoy that game. Nine ball is my least favorite...again, because of all the luck.

My favorite game now, is probably American Rotation or...10 ball with no slops allowed.

I could probably still get somewhat interested in table tennis but I'd probably throw my back out. One thing about table tennis; luck is a very small factor.

You and I have played quite a few games of pool, filluptieu!

Even though you make this thread in jest for anyone interested in Table Tennis/Ping Pong here is a great link and start

One thing that ping pong has going for it is that players do pay for lessons and monthly or yearly memberships in ping pong clubs.

The other is it will keep you in good physical shape and the facilities aren't dirty, dingy and smokey.

:thumbup::thumbup:I can see Buddy Hall gettin all over this.

twinkle toes, unless you play at or a little below pro speed, luck is not that big of a factor in any pool game. Sounds like pool player excuses

Cool, who are you twinkletoes?

Either way you'd have very strong competition from Asians...
