First place was 1200, Calc was 2000. The tournament paid 16 places and the calcutta paid 8. The field was the best ever. Stevie was playing better than I have ever seen him. The tournament had over 100 on a waiting list above the 128 field. Nevel, Watson, Stevie, Brian, Hennessee and many other strong bar box players all show for this tournament despite the relatively small payout. Nobody knows why the interest is so strong for the tournament but it grows year after year. The proceeds above the 5000 payout go toward the ARC of Haywood County. There are complaints every year about the payout amount but the same people just keep showing up. It's hard for me to explain why I continually go but I will probably be there next year also. Me and 127 others who are early enough to reserve a spot.

We finished 5/6 with Hennessee and 7/8 with Russ. After the cut I made a little over a hundred. If that West kid had not been breaking like the Almighty I would have been sitting prettier. That put us out of the winner's final. Better than losing a few hundred.

Yeah, Richard (West) really played well last weekend. We used to live pretty close to each other and run around together some. His game has picked up alot. But there is usually someone about his speed every year that somehow sneaks into the top 2 or 3 against all the champions there.
