Smoking Poll

TOURNAMENT • SMOKING POLL

  • Total voters
    200
  • Poll closed .
Actually, the real statistic is that just about 15% of all people who smoke exhibit any forms of disease associated with it (i.e. cancer). It all depends on how your body is able to metabolize the carcinogens or other toxic chemicals that come into direct contact with your lungs. The negative adds on smoking are only partially true. But live and let live, let people do what they want.

Huh???

How about jukeboxes , should they be banned ?

If the owner of the establishment allows multiple jukeboxes to be played at an incredibly high volume, to the point where half the people in the building are physically uncomfortable... and in danger of hearing loss... then yes.

Now imagine it caused physical problems that might actually shorten your lifespan... and if it somehow caused unpleasant echoing that stayed with you even after you left the building.

------

Look, most things can be fine in moderation. Eating, drinking, gambling, smoking, etc.
The question is, who's doing the moderating?

If smokers aren't decent enough to moderate themselves, then the owner should... by either ponying up for smoke eaters, or creating a separate smoking area, or just requiring people to step outside.

But if smokers refuse to moderate themselves (because they're addicts or just don't care)... and if the owners refuse to moderate them (because they're scared of losing money or just don't care)... then the law has to step in.

That's pretty much the case in NY and still people smoke. Why do you care if other people stain their teeth? Do you choose not to drink coffee or tea but still want them banned as well?

Live and let live. I'll go outside to smoke and if that's banned, then I choose the be a criminal.

The expression "Live, and let live.", when used in your post is the height of hipocrasy. You should have said, "Live, and let die." It would certainly br more aprapo.

water vapor- electronic cigarettes

A little known other option for smoking is electronic cigarettes.

I use them, many of my friends do. no health risks for others in the vicinity. Your clothes don't reek of smoke.

I still go outside most of the time but I will sneak a puff here and there.

They aren't mainstream yet so it takes some research to get into but it's a great option for smokers that are interested in trying something new. It's water vapor and nicotine with food quality flavoring. The pre filled kits are pretty expensive and don't work that well-> But, If you know what to buy you can pay way less money for your nicotine habit than buying cigarettes.

If anybody wants links to sites with info just send me a pm.

Typical response from the under 30 crowd. Tobacco brainwashing begins in elementary school. Those that want smoking banned will sit by a campfire for hours and breathe the smoke that contains 40 times the amount of carcinogens as tobacco smoke.
The poll is loaded with 3 anti choices and 2 pro options.
This debate is not new and I can tell you the poll results 3 days before they come in.
Those that believe they are on to something new here, would be easy to outfox in a 9 ball game or a little one-pocket.

Most people don't light up a campfire every thirty minutes. Smoke em' if you got em'.

Typical self-intitlement attitude. I guess you drive a Prius too huh ? Since you dont wanna breathe any unhealthy air. WHat do you do if your standing next to an exhaust pipe of a car ? Me personally, I wouild move.

Sooooo, let me make sure I have this correct. I buy land, I build building, I buy tables, and all things needed to run this establishment and then you get to decide whether or not I can smoke in MY PLACE ?

WHO THE HELL ARE YOU ?

I'm Bart Simpson, who the hell are you? Where do you get the idea I'm telling you what to do? I'm not. I'm stating that when a property owner invites the public onto his/her premises they are responsible for the safety and well being of those people.

This includes providing an environment free from carcinogens, belligerent drunks and wild dogs.

People seem to think that because they spend money on something they have some sort of entitlement that waives their responsibility for the safety of people on their premises.

I'm not telling you what to do with your place, it's already you're responsibility.

Matter of opinion. Mine is that it should be what the owner of the club decides it should be. If the owner of the club determines it is beneficial for his business to cater to smokers, he should be allowed to do so regardless if that includes the attitude "If you don't like it go somewhere else". I realize you live in the Socialist Republic of Canada but at one time, the United States attempted to allow people their Constitutional rights and freedom. I consider freedom to be where Owners have the right to determine what legal things are allowed on their property and what aren't. The reality is, it is the smoking Nazis and Socialist Liberal douche bags that have inflicted their will on private property and business owners.

To be clear, and fair, I agree with smoking being banned in Public Facilities such as libraries, schools, court houses, etc. as those are paid for by the taxpayers.
You must be constantly disappointing then. It must be sad to see so many things are beyond your control.

Or you can simply choose a different place to spend your money. In a place that suits your liking. Not come in and demand changes because you want to go in there but dont like the smoking. It's about freedom of choice. If people want to breathe unhealthy air it's their choice, not your right to demand a non-smoking enviorment because you want to go there and play pool. Go somewhere else ! Simply as that.

If someone made you go in (IE a gun to your head), I could understand your demands.

Look, let's get something straight. SMOKERS ARE THE MINORITY. When They get to be a majority then they can tell people if they don't like the smoke they can go someplace else.

Right now, you're a minority. Deal with it.

I hate smoke and want it BANNED everywhere except out of the tailpipes of my motorcycles.

Kevin

Nothing I hate more than all these yuppies with Hoop Dees (thats what the HD stands for right?) that insist on putting straight pipes on them, there is no more annoying racket that I can think of. I know, they do it so they can be heard, ...................except all of the noise is behind them, but I suppose thats fine if they are worried about being rearended.

This is the best waste of a #1000 post.

This was supposed to be for smokers. Not non-smokers. Not anti-smokers. Not former smokers.

Just the people that actually smoke.

As always, the hateful crowd of anti-smoking, "do it my way or screw you", shove-their-opinion-down-your-throat people had to stick their noses in. And yet, they think smokers are the ignorant ones?

Shocking...

Actually it wasn't just for smokers if you look at
all the options the OP offered on his poll. Are non-smokers only aloud
to vote in the poll or can they give there opinion like the smokers
can?And yet,they think non-smokers are the ignorant ones?

I believe all you "anti" trolls were looking for the "Smoking Pole" thread?

Honest mistake :)

Joey mentioned specifically it was for smokers before he posted the actual question. No one needs a poll to figure out anti-smokers don't like smoke.

I want smoking to continue to be allowed inside of the tournament building.

I want smoking banned inside of the tournament building.

I don’t mind smoking outside of the tournament building during competition.

I want smoking banned at the tournament tables.

I want to smoke anytime and anywhere I please.

I mean, how hard is it to take yourself outside between matches and light them up outside? Actually, I see MANY PLAYERS who smoke going outside to smoke. Apparently even they don't like the smoke inside of the tournament area.<---Maybe the non-smokers could go outside for THEIR fresh air...When its -20 below in Minnesota, or +120 in the shade in Phoenix (with no shade) Lets see how long you and Shane like it out there, before you seek a more comfortable (albeit 'smokey') indoors.

I've had my say, lets hear what you have to say..Keep it civil and let us know how you feel. <--I am always a civil disturbance..

Hi Joey, its your contrary, cantankerous ole' buddy. The 78 year old '2 pack-a-day' smoker, since he was 16..I admit 2nd hand smoke can be irritating, and smelly, to a non-smoker, but all the BS about 2nd hand smoke, is just that,BS.... My mother smoked (heavy) and drank (heavy) all through us four kids pregnancies..We all turned out OK. (except for my mental shortcomings) My mom passed on, in her mid-80's, my oldest sister died at 89..She smoked and drank more than mom.

SuperDuck

PS..Oh, and thanks for letting me know how to beat SVB..I will have a cigarette burning on every corner of the table, and a couple more in the ashtray's..That, and the 5 out and the break, and his healthy young ass is mine !

Joey, how many non-smoking threads can you promote at one time ?..You were so busy starting your new poll, you didn't even answer my response to your "9-Ball Open Smoking" thread..WTF..give it a rest..I am the most courteous smoker in the world..I even ask my opponent, if he minds if I smoke, in a SMOKING POOL ROOM ! If he says yes, I will go outside, or well away from the table..You just love to KEEP stirring the pot, don't you ? Next you'll probably start an "aiming system" poll...

SuperDuck

PS..If you did, I may have missed it..I usually only respond to something of interest me..A.S.S threads would NOT be one of them..
:boring2: :boring2: :boring2:
