DeadPoked and JoeR

Joe,

No need to get down to your level of personal attack since I have the truth on my side. Those that can't defend their position with debate have to resort to personal attacks. You can't anger me with your attacks, they just serve to assure me that you yourself know how weak your position is.

For Joe and DeadPoked, Marijuana would be no harder to regulate than tobacco and alcohol. Any of us could legally make all the beer and wine we can drink yet we don't, too easy to go buy it. We could make all the bootleg whiskey we wanted with almost zero chance of being caught too, yet we don't, too easy to buy it. Millions of us across much of the US could grow and cure our own tobacco. Some of the best in the world is grown within thirty miles of me here in south Louisiana, yet I know of nobody who grows it for their own use. Legal pot sales would benefit the same government and corporate entities that benefit from tobacco use, yet it is banned. As noted earlier, countries that had largely legalized pot have found that they had to tighten restrictions because of the harm pot smoking did. Why? Quite simply the cost to society.

DeadPoked, I do have a strong dislike of alcohol used at anything but a very moderate level. I don't care if someone sits in their backyard and burns a number and keeps things in moderation and I don't care if someone has a drink or a beer or so in their own home or yard. When someone's alcohol or drug use impacts the rest of us, then I have a problem with it. That means directly or indirectly by having to pay for their health care, the accidents they cause, or the care of their families that they can't take care of because they are leading nonproductive lives or spending their money on drugs or alcohol.

This brings me right back to what I have said on these forums for years: Any person's rights end where someone else's begins. If a person's actions encroach on someone else's rights, or if someone else has to pay for that person's actions, then those actions are wrong. If their actions truly have no negative impact on anyone else, I don't care what they do.
