Snapped off a local tourney last night :)

According to google...

Define: Gapper

"Gapper was a computer game written to run under DOS in 1986."

Geez brady. Get the net.
LOL - I was expecting it to be a pool term of some sort.

Also, I am looking into getting the internet but I am not sure how it works :)

Forgive me for not knowing - what is a gapper?

Simply put, it's a tip given to those that contributed to your success. In a gambling scenario, a gapper will often be given to a person who arranged the game. Back in the days of Chelsea Billiards in NYC, out of towners would walk in and there would be a rush to call all the local pros because the caller knew if the game went off, he'd get 10% of the action.

In that case - your gapper is in the mail. :D

Maybe we need a new forum where everytime someone is grumpy/jealous they can post it there instead.

Maybe you're right... but one thing's for sure... it wouldn't be less interesting...

Well then maybe that would be a better place for you to hang out...

Whether people accept it or not, this forum is just as much a social venue as it is an educational one. This is a tight knit group of friends for many people, and what better place to share the excitement of winning a tournament? If you don't want to know or care about Brady winning, then simply don't read the thread. There are plenty of other threads that could use constructive contributions if that is your desire.

Just my opinion (but I think it's a good one  )

I agree with James, maybe you have never met Brady. He is a nice guy and I think the forum here is a better place for him being around. He enjoys playing and works hard to better his game. When you get results from your work it is nice to be able to share that with someone. I give a rep to you james for explaining the situation.

A GAPPER - Send IT!

In other words, SEND SOME CASH to Jude for his help. While you're at it, spread it around. I'm sure there are others who contributed to you success here on AZ. Sorry Jude but but I believe in sharing. (The Gapper Idea was good).

I took a step back and realized that you are correct in your statement that this forum is "as much a social venue as it is an educational one."

There will always be threads submitted that are of interest to a select few, whether they be educational or personal. We all decide what we find interesting and separate the wheat from the chaff (spelling?).

"I won a match... I bought a new cue... I got a new pocket chaulker... My Mom gave me a new pair of socks..."

I realize that, while not my cup of tea, there are people that are genuinely interested in these events.

In the future I shall try to restrain myself and be more positive in my responses.

However, I will continue to follow the following philosophy: "When you lose... say little. When you win... say less."

Thanx for re-educating me.

When I read the title I thought, "Oh no another guy bragging about how wonderful he is".
But after I read the post, I felt he was just sharing a breakthrough and thanking some AZ people who helped him. Totally different. Congatulations BVAL!

I won a 9 ball tournament at Main Street Billiards last night in Mesa, Arizona. It was a 7(rating) and under. Rece to handicap minus 3. I went undefeated through the whole thing. It felt really good. The thing that felt the best was I was able to close out my matches when I had the chance to. I have been working hard on my mental game lately and it paid off last night. Instead of attempting a shot that was makeable but not smart I played the safe and smart.

Matches went like this - 4-2, 4-1, 4-1, 4-1, finals 4-0

By the way I LOVE MY NEW SCHON! I just got it last Wednesday and a couple more wins it will be paid off :)

I would also like to thank BigCat (Ray) and CocoboloCowboy for the tips and pointers you gave me over the last few weeks.

Congrats, Brady. A win always feels good... enjoy it.

I actually paid a lot of my dues at Main Street back in my college days. It is a great place to hone your skills. Lots of good tournaments to play in, as well. BTW, I'm glad you are enjoying your new Schon. Evan Clarke and company make a solid cue for the money.

And you're welcome... I'm glad you were able to put some of the things we talked about to use. You definitely have the ability and talent to win tournaments... I think you just needed a little guidance on certain aspects of the game that you may not have thought about before. But that will all come with time and practice. Plus, it sounds like you are already changing those old thought processes anyways.

Good job, brother. Maybe it's time for another "meeting"

Thanks Ray and yes it does feel good. I was very focused last night and was able to keep my focus the whole night. I kept my head down and still (or as still as I could keep it :)) and thought much more about my pattern play and figuring out the right way for me to play the shot.

I would like to get together for another meeting for sure. I am not sure when you are free but just PM me a few days that you are and we will set something up. The only days I am not available are Tue. and Wed..

Again I thank you for taking the time to work with me a little and pass some of your knowlege onto me. You still have my number?
