Sneakiest Pete Cue Review

Hey everyone I am currently at my straight pool league night. I am the league operator and we are having a very successful season for the first one out.

Before we go any further let me say my knowledge of the technical terms when it comes to cues is nowhere near some of yours but Im going to give it my best shot to review this cue the best I can.

Now on to the fun part.

I got to try out the sneakiest pete cue that was sent to me today with a radial OB-2 shaft.

First let me say that the shipping process was perfect cue arrived smooth and with no problems and although a minor part of the cue purchasing or selling process I find it can be a most important one.

Second, upon opening the cue from its wrapping I noticed it was a little more solid than I was expecting. It felt like you had a cue in your hands and not a featherweight piece of junk from KMART. Now i wasnt expecting anything otherwise but it was nice to feel something so solid. I am a fan of wrapless cues as it is but this piece of wood is very pretty. From an aestethic stand point however the matching of the OB-2 with it is not a good color match however for me its function over form. Also the wording on the bottom of the cue makes it look a little "cheaper" than it should. Perhaps the placement and style of this could be re- thought however this is just my opinion.

I chalked the cue and took a couple of test shots with it in the beginning of the day today and the cue felt great. Very firm hit with very little deflection if any on certain shots. The OB-2 really allows for a lot of spin on the cue ball with dead on accuracy as if you were hitting center ball. Again this cue feels real real solid and hits real firm.

I have let a few of my league players hit with the cue (softly dont worry lol) and they love it. Now some of these guys are D players and others are open levels and A's and everyone has echoed my sentiments exactly. A few have asked for contact information already for the cue maker to get cues of their own in various woods.

I got the shedua sent to me with a radial pin and OB-2 Shaft. You can clearly see the wood grain and it really is a beautiful stick in its simplicity. In my honest opinion i would like to try this with an original shaft. A lot of times I find when you put an OB or Predator Shaft on a cue they will play very similar.

So in closing I would have to highly highly highly recommend this cue to anyone.
:) :) :D  :grin-square: :)

i've been wanting a ob-2 for months now but haven't had the pesos. unfortunately my fury has a proprietary pin so i have to get a whole new cue. i like the butt but dont want to waste money converting it or custom ob-2. i dont want a super cheap looking cue, so i looked at sneaky petes but the ferrule is a total giveaway! and i think i like wraps on mine.

maybe one day i can get an ob-2.

If these cues are gonna come with ob2 shafts as a standard then this would have a proper review about the cues. So will they?

Otherwise, sounds good!

If I remember from Poolfool's post, those sneakiest come standard with a OB2 shaft. Thanks for the great review, I've been thinking about buying one of these sneakiest.

They really are great. I love the one I have right now. Like a lot of you I have been wanting to try the OB2 without shelling out the cash. If you can tell by my avatar I love OB products but I was waiting for valley forge to really try one out.

I cant say enough good things about this cue.

This should be moved to the Cue Reviews section of AZB...which is for, oddly enough....cue reviews. :smile2:

The main post was put here ergo im reposting it here. If the mods want to move it they will.

Thanks for the constructive post though as it oddly enough doesnt pertain to anything that was being said about the topic at hand. ODDLY ENOUGH. lol

Hey Charlie,
Glad you like the cue! Thanks for the thoughtful review. Seems pretty fair to me.
I'd like to make something clear.....the only reason that I decided to make these cues was to put an affordable quality cue into the hands of the players out there who want a high end piece of equipment but don't have a ton of money. I have these ready to go with OB-1's and 2's, McDermott "I" shafts, a Z-2 and one coming up with a Tiger Ultra X shaft.
Honestly folks, where else are you going to find a custom cue with an upper level shaft, upper level tip, G-10 joint pin and j/p's for this kind of money? It ain't "sham wow"...these are the real deal. I'm not going to claim that they are all perfect and I'm sure as hell not going to claim they are the best sneaky out there. I am quite proud of the looks AND the performance and I'm just as pleased with the value of this product.
I just don't understand why people will throw $200-$300 at a Lucasi or even some of the other import sneaky's mated up with an OB or Predator shaft. This cue is made right here in the USA with the exception of the tip. Even if you wouldn't buy one of these cues I'd like to express a desire to see you spend your money on an American made cue. We need to do what we can to pull our country through. Just mho
Again, thank you Charlie for taking the time to review the cue.
Rick
