I hear a lot about each of these guy's sneaky petes, and I was wondering whose would you get? The prices seem to be within the same range but one, you know made Scrugg's sneaky's and the other has a J/B option. I'm not saying I'm going to get one any time soon, but I might in a few months just to take to places to be inconspicuous. what would you guys prefer?

go gilbert, or go strait to bob (not to cues n things)

you know, i'm glad you asked this. when i was in the process of getting my 2 current cues, i emailed bob frey's dealer at cues n things, it was such a terrible experience. this guy didn't really want to answer any questions or be of any help really. he just wanted to take cue orders in my opinion. bobs cues are in such high demand, why should he bother answering any questions? thats the impression i got, and i really hated it. now, ive heard since then if you contact bob himself that it would be a different story, im sure thats true and i unfortunately did not do that.

i ended up getting a gilbert jump break. i havent seen a lot of gilberts, but let me tell you soomething as unbiasedly as possible. his work is just so beautiful. i know everybody says this, but you really have to see his cues to understand. they are true works of art. my cue is so simple and elegant, its just gorgeous, and it performs very, very well.

i highly recommend you get a gilbert cue. the only negative thing i can say about my order from andy was i wish they kept me a little better informed when they were sending me the cue. it arrived a little late and they didnt update me too well. everything else was fantastic. jeff is very easy to talk with, they are really a class operation. oh, and their website needs a little work to imo. but if you keep pumping out cues like andy does, who cares about the website.

so, long but i did finally answer you right? lol. good luck.

Personally, I would go with the Gilbert J/B I have seen several of them and they all look damn nice, and have never hear one complaint about how they play or break. Plus i think in the long run the Gilbert will hold the resale value too.

Sir; You have never Emailed me about a cue. I go out of my way to answer any questions a potential buyer may have. I'am Bob Frey's dealer and I'am proud to sell his high quality cues. Andy Gilbert also makes a fine cue. Please don't use "CuesNThings.com" to prove your point, there is no need, I totally agree with you, Andy Gilbert cues are fantastic hitters, we have sold a couple previously owned. If you honestly want to know about Bob's construction, please Email me and I will be glad to assist you. JP:)

My family picked up 2 of Bob Frey's cues from Cuesnthings.com around Xmas time and it was a very pleasent transaction. I ran into the owner of cuesnthings at Champions in Rockville with Purdman and made some small talk with him, he is very knowledgable about cues and a very pleasent person to talk to.

I highly recommend cuesandthings.com if you are looking for a Custom Sneakey Pete.

I have a Gilbert J/B cue. Never used it for jumping so I cannot give a opinion on that part. Use it to break and play with. It is a stiff cue with a real hard tip that does not mushroom or flaten out.

Workmanship and finish is fantastic. Great cue for the price.

Got it from Cueaddicts.

let me ask you a question, how in the world could you possibly know if i have "never emailed you about a cue." just by making that statement your credibility goes down the tubes to me and should with others, how could you possibly know i haven't?? tell me.

truth is, i can prove i've emailed you. you sent me a response, I asked some follow up questions and never heard from you again. and considering the way you phrased your response to my initial email, it seemed you just didn't want to deal with anybody that wanted to do anything other than order. i had some very simple questions and you failed me and seeing a post in a forum is the price you pay, i hope you learn your lesson, really. im glad to be able to post it.

the problem is, there are so many collectors you guys don't need to deal with high maintenance customers like me who actually have many questions and requirments. thats fine i guess, its all about the dollar right. but please dont tell me i never emailed you. for anybody interested i can forward them the 2 emails i sent to cues and things to show this man to be a liar.

sorry everyone, but that really got to me. if you are going to shy away from questions and high maintenance customers, live with the consequenses, don't attempt to lie and cover it up.

I recently purchased a Frey SP from Cues n Things. On a scale of 1-10 (ten being best), I would consider the transaction an eight or nine. It wasn't perfect, but it was better than average.

With respect to the cue, it is a thing of beauty, at least as far as plain SP cues go. The cocobolo butt is very well figured, and nearly flawlessly finished. The points are barely short of being perfectly even (Tiny 1 or 2 mm difference between longest and shortest point).

I very much like the way the Frey SP plays and breaks, and would have no problems recommending one.

I also just purchased a custom ordered Frey sneaky from cuesnthings and J.P. was very prompt in answering all the questions I had (via email). I'm expecting my cue this week or early next week but I had a great customer service experience with the transaction.

Enzo; As I mentioned this morning I have no Emails from you as Enzo. I make it a point to answer all Email's that I receive. If you say you sent me an Email it must have been under another name.

I value all my customers and as you can see in this thread some good people have added their comments, which I appreciate. The only reason I reply is for the some reason you wish to get me in the middle of a Gilbert/Frey situation. They are both great cuemakers as I previously stated.

Again as I stated also, if you have a question I will certainly answer you.

Good Luck JP:)

im going to tell people what you did to me because i think it's important that people report unprofessional behavior, this way i feel consumers will be treated better and i think this is one of the most powerful things that can be done in these forums.

i emailed you some questions, you got back to me. i then emailed you a second email, and in this one i asked some tougher questions, questions someone like you may not want to deal with. they were along the lines of can bob make me a butt and put a 314 shaft on it and also i asked if i could return the cue if i wasn't satisfied with the hit. this seems perfectly reasonable to me, if you are not a cue collector, and you are getting a cue to play with (as bob frey cues profess to be "players cues"), if it doesn't hit the way you want you should be able to return it imo. anyway, you never even emailed me back after i asked those questions.

now, i can't prove this, and i sincerily apologize if i'm wrong about this, but i guarantee you that if that second email would have said "do you take paypal" or "who do i make the check out to" you would have gotten back to me real quick in that case. i feel you avoided my questions and
i think people need to know about this.

im sure you have tons of happy customers, thats not the point. the point is all customers need to be treated well, not just the ones with higher ordering potential. im sure a lot of your happy customers contact you, tell you what they want, then pay you. whats not to be happy about, we all know bob makes a great cue.

even if i am wrong in this post, which i wouldnt say this stuff if i felt there was a good chance i was wrong, i think it will make you much more attentive to all customers after this thread. that has to be a good thing right, whether you are me, you or any other consumer of bobs cues.

i think siince i'm bring up negative things about cuesnthings i should report the positive experiences ive had, a cuemaker that dealt with my loads of questions and requirments like a pro, it was DZcues.com
i asked dzuricky so many question i may have drove him crazy, but he really acted extremely positive and worked with me the whole way through.
i highly recommend him to anyone, along with andy gilbert.

i own a gilbert j/b (i play with it), and with a hard tip it jumps fine. i also had a frey sneaky, and it plays real good too. i would recommend both, style/price/availability would be the only factors for me.
