Sniper tips

Snipers tips are known for popping off or not getting the glue to soak far enough into the leather or pig skin in this case.

Some repairman prime the tip which didn't work out for me, I just give the glue some time to soak in before sticking the tip to the ferrule.
I use Loctite Ultragel Control .
I use a razor blade and cut little lines on the back of the tip.

use the right glue

everyone wants everything to be fast! I have installed approx. 500-600 tips and I always use 2 part epoxy. I have never had a tip come off and when I need to replace them the ones with instant glue can be popped-off but the ones with epoxy have to be cut off! GUARANTEED!!!

Nothing wrong with 2 part Epoxy. I will usually do at least, phenolic break tips with that.

With the new CA Gels on the market, they're pretty efficient.

Lots of guys prep like Mike does. I use a tip *****er on a small hobby anvil. That gives the Gel a little something extra to seep into.

I also coat the bottom with Thin CA. That creates a small layer of glue to keep the CA from wicking up too much.

As far as I can see, Gel Ca doesn't wick as bad but it still happens so why take chances.

A few extra minutes in a good prep saves returns.

An old English motorcycle racer that I worked for at the motorcycle shop for a few seasons used to say:

If you don't have time to do the job proper in the first place, where are you going to find the time to do it a second time around.
