Snooker 9Ball

This started off as a drill that I would do, but I think it could be a fun twist to the game. I'm sure it would never become very popular, and would just end up being a neat practice game.

- Alternate break

- Rack like normal

- 4 balls must hit a rail on the break

- All balls made stay down, except the 9

- The 9, regardless of whether it gets made or not, gets spotted

- Breaker gets BIH after the break

- The goal is to run the balls in rotation, but in between each ball, you have to pocket the 9. The 9 gets spotted after each make, except the last time it's made

- Standard TE rules apply

- The 9 ball is worth 3 points, and all other balls are worth 2 points. So if you make the 1 and then the 9, that's 5 points.

-Any balls made on the break are worth their value. So if you make the 3 and the 6 on the break, you already have 4 points.

- If you miss, your inning is over

- If you foul (scratch, miss kick/jump), then the other player gets BIH and 1 point.

- Game is played to an agreed upon # of points, and ends when that player reaches/or exceeds that total.

Why not just play short-rack? 10-Ball rack, and have a designated yellow (11), brown (12), and green(13) down in the kitchen, a "blue" (14) in the middle, and a "black" (15) behind the pack.

( ) meaning ball #.

Or you have a yellow, green, brown, blue, pink and black.
red plus stripes so you could play a shorter version of snooker

set these solid balls as you would on a snooker table

set/rack up the seven stripes behind the pink.

BIH place the cue ball and spare red where you like on the table
so to commence you need to pot the red and get on one of the solids/colours
in such a position to break up the stripes to continue the break
stripes stay down once pocketed the colours are re-spotted when all the stripes are gone
you then clear the colours in order yellow, green, brown, blue, pink and finally the black 8.

As in snooker you add up the points made in the break red ball and stripes worth one
yellow 2, green 3, brown 4, blue 5, pink 6, and black 7.

The maximum break you can make would be 91

I like both of those ideas, but really I was just trying to change up 9ball a bit, and add a little hint of snooker.
