Snooker Rooms in OC, California

Hello all,

I am essentially a snooker player but mostly played the 8 & 9 ball (especially in SCPL Leagues). Due to personal and health problems, I haven't played since nearly 8 years. Now that I am able and fit in my 40's, I'd like to get back into the game.

I've heard about "Cue T's" in Monterey Park, "The Green Room" in Glendale, the "Embassy Billiard Club" in San Gabriel, the "Shooters" & "QBonkers" in Riverside, all of which carry International snooker tables (so I heard) but are quite a distance. I recently found out that the "The Green Room", the "Shooters" and the "Hardtimes" have long modified their snooker tables to fit the golf gamblers.:mad:

I used to play snooker at Hardtimes in Bellflower and Family Billiards in Lakewood, neither of which were up to standards. I live in Anaheim, California now and have yet to find a snooker table (any size) in the Orange County area.

Any help in recommending a decent snooker room in/around Anaheim, California area will be much appreciated. I wouldn't mind commuting with others for a decent shoot-out on weekends. Thanks.

a few listings

Howdy, DKhan, and welcome to the Snooker forum.

In a few weeks I'll be putting a list online of all snooker tables I've found in the U.S. The purpose of the list is to make it easier for people like yourself to find snooker tables.

Although I'm not quite done with the list, maybe I can help you out with listings I already have for California.

Thanks for mentioning QBonkers. I didn't have it on my list.

Any help in recommending a decent snooker room in/around Anaheim, California area will be much appreciated. I wouldn't mind commuting with others for a decent shoot-out on weekends. Thanks.

I checked the distance from Anaheim to the pool halls currently on my list, and the listings below would appear to be the closest. The driving times are from Google Maps; I realize that actual time around LA can vary quite a bit.

Green Room (one 5 x 10)
4006 San Fernando Rd
Glendale 91204
(818) 548-0739
(~ 40 minutes)

Embassy Billiards Club (twelve 6 x 12 ?!?)
220 S San Gabriel Blvd
San Gabriel 91776
(626) 286-8100
(~ 40 minutes)

** If you do go to Embassy, please confirm the number of snooker tables for me. I was told on the phone that they have twelve. Wow. **

Shooters Sports & Grill (one 5 x 10, one 6 x 12)
10226 Indiana Ave
Riverside 92503
(951) 785-9588
(~ 40 minutes)

Hard Times Billiards (one 6 x 12)
17450 Bellflower Blvd.
Bellflower 90706
(562) 867-7733
(~ 20 minutes)

Burbank Elks Lodge #1497 (one, probably 5 x 10)
2232 N. Hollywood Way
Burbank 91505
(818) 848-5508
[Must be an Elks member or guest of an Elks member]
(40 - 60 minutes)

Joe Jost's Tavern (one 5 x 10)
2803 East Anaheim Street
Long Beach 90804
(562) 439-5446
(~ 30 minutes)

Golden Cue Billiards (one 5 x 10, two 6 x 12)
1953 Durfee Ave
South El Monte 91733
(626) 575-4811
(~ 30 - 40 minutes)

Canoga Park Bowl (one 5 x 10)
20122 Vanowen Street
Canoga Park 91306
(~ 1 hour)

I believe that Flores Pool Hall in Wilmington has a snooker table. Could someone who speaks Spanish call them for me?

**Known or Assumed Closed**
Ego Snooker, San Jose
Unite Snooker Club, Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles
Johnny's Snooker, Tulare (closed a number of years ago)
Cue-T's Snooker Club Inc, Monterey Park

**No snooker table**
Stix Billiards, Rancho Cucamonga
Campbell Billiards, Campbell
Simi Valley Billiards, Simi Valley (now Billiards Plaza & Café)

There are others in California, but those are the closest I've been able to find.

Hi there Rethunk,

Thanks for the list but none are in the Orange County area. You may want to add the following to your list as well which is closest to Anaheim:

Lakewood Family Billiard Center (two 5x10 snooker tables)
4125 Paramount Blvd
Lakewood, CA 90712
(562) 420-9556

I was there yesterday afternoon practising on those tables for about an hour. The tables are fairly okay; having a lot of "nap" and a few tighter pockets and no snooker cues but good cloth and cleaner tables. One seems to be better than the other. Seems to be a decent family place with lots of full-size pool and as well as some bar tables besides the arcade games and their regular food and cocktail.

I later went to Hardtimes in Bellflower which is only a few miles from the Family Billiard Center. Their usual two 6x10's were occupied with golfers. Pretty much a busy place as has always been with several tournaments taking place every week. I remember playing a couple of friendly games with Effrin (the magician) on one of the better snooker tables many years ago.

A while ago I found an iffy listing for Anaheim, but I'd be surprised if a Holiday Inn has a snooker table rather than simply a pool table:

Anaheim Resort, Holiday Inn
1915 South Manchester Avenue
Anaheim CA
(714) 748-7777

It's fairly common for hotel sites to indicate that a hotel has a "billiard/snooker" table when a pool table is meant.
Right on the spot. The Holiday Inn in Anaheim has standard bar tables and no snooker like most other motels/hotels.

I just registered with them as well. Thanks.

I'm planning to visit the far-away ones hopefully next weekend and as well as searching for any good snooker tables here in Orange County area.

Thanks. You've helped me more than I've helped you, though I wish I could have found some tables closer to you. I'll include your AzB username in the list of contributors when I post the full list online.

Wow. I bet that was quite an experience.

You're certainly welcome. I've really appreciated the snookerforum.com posts on various snooker cue makers.

If you find any, please post back here. Thanks again, and good luck finding decent snooker tables.

Anyone from the in and around Anaheim or Long Beach areas, California, wanting to play/practise friendly snooker or 9 ball on 5x10s at the Lakewood Family Billiard Center or at the D&B on weekends, please let me know. We can either commute or meet up there. Thanks.

there's a 10-foot American Snooker Table at Dave and Busters in Orange. I also heard of one at Santa Ana Billiards, but I haven't seen it myself. There's alot of them at Elk Lodges and Leisure world, but your to young for those places.

Would you happen to know the location or addresses of Elk Lodge and Leisure World in the Orange County area? I shall visit and check them out, including the Santa Ana Billiards and D&B in Orange, hopefully today. Thanks.

Elks Lodge with a snooker table is on newhope and euclid in Garden Grove. You will need to know a member to get in I believe. My Grandfather lives at Leisure World in Laguna Hills, one of the club houses has a snooker table.

There are several Elks Lodges in California (and across the country) that have snooker tables (incl. #322 in San Luis Obispo, #1497 in Burbank, and #652 in Eureka).

Here's info for the lodge in Garden Grove. Thanks. I've added them to the list of places to call.

Elks Lodge #1952
11551 Trask Avenue
Garden Grove, Ca 92843
(714) 534-1952

There's also supposed to be one at the lodge in Redondo Beach, though I have yet to reach someone there who can confirm this.

Elks Lodge #1378
315 Esplanade
Redondo Beach CA
(310) 372-8488

Thanks, I will check them out soon.

Dave and Busters in Orange, CA has several 9 footers, all of which are in EXCELLENT condtion. Haven't witnessed and/or played on any better tables yet. They also have one 5x10 snooker table in very good condtion but all the pockets sucks (preferably meant for golf), very difficult to even pot an easy shot at slow speed and has slight nap all across. The closest to D&B in Orange would be Hardtimes in Bellflower.

I'm the mechanic at D and B, and will take this post as a compliment. However, I'm not a snooker mechanic and any critiqueing you have will only help me. You feel the corner pockets are too small? and by how much? how do you feel about the side pockets?

I did not measure the pockets, however, assuming all pockets were of International standards, I learnt a technique to test them from early adulthood by watching some great players whilst growing up on 6x12 snooker tables. If you'd like, I can meet you at Dave and Busters in Orange to demonstrate on any weekday after 4pm and anytime on weekends. Thanks.
