snooker shaft for a pool cue? what?

hey guys, I've recently picked up snooker and was thinking of getting myself a cue, they sell decent cues for $30-$80, but I love my cue and I rather not carry the extra weight and was thinking of getting a shaft build for it, it would be something different and unique. anyone ever made an ash shaft to fit a standard pool cue? 5/16X18, 9mm, 29". let me know if its possible or even a good idea, or should I just buy a whole cue.
 
Of course it is possible. Most any of the fine cue makers who frequent this forum would be more than capable of preforming the work. Provided they had a well aged, good quality piece of ash (please don't go there)... and the measurements that you would require. But it would probably be quite a little higher than your $30 - $80 for a custom made shaft.

yes, not looking to spend too much, if so I will buy a cue.
 
If you can secure a cue or even just the shaft for $30-80, do it.
Then have the joint of the shaft converted to fit your chosen handle.
If you have no need of the newly purchased handle, sell it to offset
the cost of the new shaft's conversion.
You could do very well.
Oh, this assumes that the snooker shaft is of proper length.

ty, i actually thought of that, have it re-tapped. it might be the best way to go, there's hundreds of cues on ebay alone for great prices, I can eventually find a used one for $20 probably.

Buy the cheap snooker cue. Re-tapering the shaft will cost more than the
price of the cue.

Just buy a snooker cue and use that. Problem solved.
Many players here in NZ use their snooker cues for 8,9,10 ball with no problems.
