I'm preparing to cover my Bruswick Arcade 6 legged Snooker Table. Anyone know anything about Championship Cloth or Strachan (sp) Cloth. We play Golf with Pool Balls on Gorina M, at McGoos in Tulsa. I have purchased the Cloth yet, I'm waiting on suggestions

Are you hoping to have conditions like you see for snooker tournaments on TV? Standard snooker setup is very, very different from tables rigged up for golf.

Hi Bob, I already have some pockets to play Golf with Pool Balls (#7 pockets I believe.)

The table mechanic will shim the rails. for the correct nose height for Pool Balls, I already have some Pool Balls made for Snooker play. What I'm looking for is somewhat fast play.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Golf is played by shooting around the table either clockwise or counterclockwise depending on who told you the rules. Each game is usually once around although there's no reason to stop at 6 holes.
Each player picks his own ball and all play is with one cueball and the player's individual ball.
Play starts by players one by one, banking their ball at one of the back pockets. With the exception of a player making the one hole on the break, balls are banked off the foot spot until all are in play. Then it's a ring game to get to the 6 hole. This is cake on a pool table but murder on a properly setup (tightened) snooker table.

The usual game at Magoo's is 4-7 handed and the bet is $10/game and $1/foul(can be played for less like 5/.50 also). Person that sells out pays double the game amount but not double on the fouls. Also, fouls don't count against the winner. In a typical 10/1 game the winner gets 50-80bux depending on # of players. Couple days ago a game lasted over 2hrs with some great banking/kicking displays. Winner of that game took home around 90bux iirc.

Please explain. How does that work? I haven't heard of golf on a pool table.
The rules for golf on a snooker table have been discussed on AZB a couple of times. Briefly:

multiplayer game like maybe 5 players
each player has his own object ball, common cue ball
the goal is to sink your ball in each of the six pockets in order
if you make your ball, it spots up and you try for the next pocket
the player who does pocket 6 first gets paid by all the other players
if you foul, you get a penalty point (hickey) and if you are not the winner, you must pay the winner for those points

There is a great deal of strategy and if you continually screw up and leave the next player a shot, you will be invited to leave the game.

Usually snooker tables that have been set up for golf are entirely unsuitable for snooker. I have seen one such table where it was nearly impossible to pocket the black off its spot.

Yep. The snooker table at Magoo's is a B'wick Royale that has pool rails and TINY pockets. Along with the superfast cloth its totally unfit for snooker. Strictly a golf table. Snooker used to be big in this area yrs ago but now its deader than HulaHoop so its no big deal having such a modified table.

It's also important to note that you should avoid getting into a golf game until you have watched the regulars play for a few days. Most games have their own special rules -- what happens if you foul and leave the next guy hooked, for example. Also, few golf tables are flat or level.

For sure. Golf is big in OkCity, Tulsa and Wichita. All have subtle variations in the rules. Not huge but as Bob stated you better know how the locals play.

Put Royal Pro cloth on .Played at Tuscon Billiard Club this stuff is lighting and wears good. Love golf both pool and grass.( not that stuff)
