Hi everyone, I am happy to announce that my cuesmith deluxe has arrived, is being set up as you read this and I will soon be knee deep in cue dust :P

My question, I have read 100 articles on tips, which ones to use, how to put them on, etc... Well, my first customer (sort of) came to me today and asked me to put on a snooker tip for her as she hasn't had a tip for a long time :) just my luck my first customer and its a snooker cue which I have no idea about lol

What kind of tip would I use for this, what I have been able to find points to a soft tip like an elkmaster but do I need a special tip or can I just use one of those and cut it down to 9mm or whatever it is and shorten the tip? also what kind of radius would I put on it?

Thanks,

You use an Elk master and install the smallest you have. Trim to fit with a sharp tool and burnish the sides of the tip. It will have to be pretty short as the rule of thumb is that the tips height should be 1/3 the width.

Dick's info is right on...JER

Is the tip height measured to the actual center point of the tip or to the point where it is rounded at the edge?

Measure from the bottom, to where it STARTS to round...JER
