Snooker World Championships, who's clapping?

I know this has nothing to do with anything, and as usual, I overthink stuff, but I've been watching snooker championships for 2 days, and due to the COVID-19 unfortunate circumstances, the players aren't shaking hands and the chairs around the tables are empty, which means no audience!

But for the life of me, I don't know who's clapping, it's funny to me, is it computer generated? or are there actual people outside the arena, I keep hearing claps on hard shots and good breaks but I still can't figure it out.

It's been discussed several times in the commentary. Canned applause for end of frame, centuries and end of match. There are no reactions to awesome shots, however, so there is little judgement required of the button pusher.

Oh that make sense, a push of a button, I thought so in the beginning, ya snooker without clapping is a no-go I guess.

The qualification rounds were streamed without sound effects. I thought it was OK that way. With the canned applause it it a little better once you forget that it is not real.

On a lighter note.

If there was real clapping it would be done by the sports betting Industry in the UK and Asia.

I never bet on sports but like to predict winners. At this stage in the Crucible, I’m usually at 70% or so. This year...40%.

I think the canned applause is good for the game. A lot of snooker’s popularity is due to
a lot of spectators who can’t play snooker. The applause makes them a little more hep.
Eventually, they start to appreciate some finer points of the game and become loyal.

Turn it on for good individual shots also.

Successful sports have many spectators who can have a sophisticated conversation
about their game...even though they can’t play it.

Since the commentators are champions they should give them a button for a tap tap tap after a fine shot.😎
