Hello all... I just wanted to announce some details about a piece of software I have been working on, on and off for 6-7 months or so. It's called SnookerBase, and it is built to gather and store all kinds of stats from snooker frames. During a frame, it doubles as a scoreboard, so that everyone in the room can easily glance over and see the current score. It compiles tons of statistics categories, and uploads it's most recent data to the SnookerBase website. I even have functionality in place so that multiple users of SnookerBase across the world could see their stats alongside every other SnookerBase user's stats. At the moment, I have not yet made the program available for download, but when I do, it will be completely free of charge. I may even expand it to be usable for all kinds of cue sport games, but snooker is one that obviously has lots of interesting data for a single frame (reds, colors, fouls/points, etc).
My friends and I have been using SnookerBase since July 2005, installed on a dedicated PC which sits near to our snooker table. In this time we have recorded detailed stats from about 1200 frames of snooker. You can view all of our past and current stats on the SnookerBase website. We have many players in our database, but some only end up playing a few frames. One of our more active snooker players took 3rd place in last year's APA 8-ball singles nationals, in the 6's & 7's division (can you guess which one he is?). I am in the process of networking our dedicated SnookerBase machine so that all stats will be uploaded to the website instantly after a new frame is saved in the application. At the moment, I run this update from another machine, a few times per week.
Please post your comments and questions! Thanks...
