Have you had you home foreclosed on/

Possible a Car, or Truck Reprocessed?

Lot you Job a you company is cutting back because of the economic conditions?

Cur back on you Pool Playing, or tournament Play?

Or is everything wonderful where you live, and you are not being effected by the RE/De/Pression, or what ever it is you wish to call it.




Personally now a day I am watching my money a lot closer, and have cut my Tournament Player to (2) Times a month, from Weekly. I wish the Dow would go back to 14,100 from where it closed today.
 
It must be effecting others here. Has anyone noticed the viewer numbers on AZB? Over the last week or two it has been much lower. The last few days I noticed less than 100. Just now it showed 75 viewing. I know at night time it increases but not to what it use to be.

The elections will effect it to a degree but the financial chrisis should have everyone concerned. Those than planned ahead and have their money in a safe place may be ok but you just never know whats going to happen.

It is not just a matter of semantics, there is an important technical distinction between the two terms:

A Recession is when your neighbor loses their job, their car or their house.

A Depression is when you lose your job, your car or your house.​

And yes, I think the regular denizens of the Wanted/For Sale section can tell you a lot of people are holding tight to whatever money they have. There's was a 6-point Bluegrass cue being listed there this morning for the price of a plain-jane with no action right now. Of course if you have money to spare right now you are in a strong position to snag a bargain or two.

I have never been better, but I consider myself fortunate. I play more pool; because it's cheaper than running the boat at a gallon to the mile. I'm running it this weekend though, Ya' gotta take it out!:grin:
 
I keep doing what I've always done. I help people daily, I play pool daily, and I make the same amount of money daily.

When you live within your means, the market don't matter. PERIOD.

I wouldn'd give anyone money that I "knew" I couldn't collect from. That's what Freddie and Fanny did... plus others.


All I can say is that I was once a Demacrate, now I'm a Repulican. At least I can be proud to BE.

Not really affected how much I play pool (yet) but year to date my 401k is down around -41.3%....Ron

I'm working overseas. The crisis has caused the value of the Won to tank over the last month or so. I need to transfer the bulk of my savings to the US for my wedding next year, but I'll have thousands of dollars less than expected as a result of the crisis. I'm going to lose about 33%. Compared with a few months ago when I was making money when I sent it home, this is a huge hit.

Thankfully, as far as pool playing goes, nope. I'm still playing the same amount as always. Prices here haven't gone up too badly yet. I don't have a car, but if I did the pool hall is close enough that gas prices wouldn't matter too much.

The poolhall I've played at for the last couple of years has closed it's doors
(Chris's Green Pocket) in Brookfield,IL and a few other nearby poolhalls have closed too. That's a sad thing I wish we could keep these places in business. When hardtimes hit I guess entertainment get's hit first.
 
Personally I am unaffected by the current crisis. Things are going well for me and most other people around me. I do however live in one of the areas of the nation where people have the most disposable income for the working class.
 
I have three different 401(k) plans at three different companies, and the combined vaue of them has dropped by about 25%. I think my story is pretty typical of those of us who work for investment banks.

Still, I am not suffering any financial woes to speak of, and I'm more worried for those who have already lost or fear loss of their jobs at a time when they also face losing their homes due to the decline in the real estate market.

Finally, I'm concerned by the fact that neither Obama nor McCain shows any real insight into what it will take to fix the credit markets. In terms of a command of macroeconomic principles, they both sound like novices to me.
 
Until 2 months ago I worked for the US Treasury Department as a Bank Examiner. Now, I work for another banking regulator. I've looked at banks from Boston to LA. From the smallest to the largest. All I have to say is IT AIN"T OVER YET.

A year ago, I moved all my 401K money out of the index fund to cash. I started buying today. Bluechip stocks. I moved about 10% of my cash into stocks today. And, will be moving more as the market moves. I plan to have 70% to 80% of 401K in stocks by year-end. I'm not one to give anybody advice, but if someone owns stock I would suggest thinking long and hard before selling. You don't have a lose until you sell.

Now to the pool. I've played more pool in the last 6-months then I did the previous 18-months. I'm starting my pool cue buying now too. I'm being very selective and buying at my price.

I'm very lucky, my job allows me to travel and play pool in many places.

I wish everyone the best through these tough economic times.

Yes, and if things don`t change my room will be gone to.
No one is playing much anymore around here, no money they say.

I`ve been off 45% for 3 months, my landlord is not to proud of me.

I have added discounts, specials and other deals and still dead most nights,
My days are ok with the disabled, on ss and the out of work crowd though.

I keep my fingers and toes crossed daily and prey it turns around soon.

I sure hope things turn around for you. This is too great a game to suffer these kinds of losses. Those daily specials are great for us lifelong pool players who love the game, but I know there aren't enough of us to pay your bills month after month. We need to get more people interested in the game. I'll keep you in my prayers highrun55
 
I got laid off from a government contractor job and I am looking for a job now and it is supper tuff.
